£50 collection in Finsbury Park
Selling this 20Five front disc wheel - been bombproof for 5 years, until some pillock on an e-bike crashed into me head on.
Wheel deemed untrueable by butternut bikes in Crouch End - you’re welcome to have a bash yourself but I’m essentially selling this as just a hub & spokes.
A new 20Five rim is about £100 if you fancy rebuilding it. The hub itself is fine, has 12mm through axle adapters, and had new bearings in 2021.

Two wtb byways with kenda inner tubes £10 per tyre+tube - came fitted as stock on an arkose X, ridden once to get the bike home then swapped for some 700c wheels. Been in a drawer ever since.
Gravel king SK 700x35 tubeless £15 - like new
Collection from Finsbury Park, I might be able to deliver nearby.

I think this has been inferred in some quarters from the fact that the mix n match trial showed better protection if the second dose was an mRNA vaccine. But that was just looking at immune responses rather than real life infection, and 2 doses rather than a 3rd dose booster.
Either way I wouldn’t be surprised if they do Pfizer boosters to use up stock and switch tactics if/when variant specific boosters become available.
-
For Pfizer and Moderna there is no trial data showing that a >21 day dosing interval translates into better protection against symptomatic disease. There’s some evidence of greater antibody production (albeit with less T-cell mediated responses) in >80s with a longer interval. Basically I’d take whatever you can get at whatever interval is available.

Been having trouble with my rear tyre losing pressure overnight (gravelking+ on a hope 20Five rim). Thought I must have buggered up seating it but then spotted this bubbling (presumably a bit of sealant) from the inner surface of the actual rim itself. Looks like there's a tiny crack, not sure what from. Two questions:
- presumably the rim is buggered? I emailed the hope warranty people who said I could post it to them to have a look....not sure it's worth the time/hassle.
- can anybody recommend a north london wheelbuilder who would build me a new rear wheel on the hub (a 32 hole hope RS4, if that makes a difference)?

It’s such a rubbish article! From what they can prove, 11 hospitalisations amongst 2.9 million vaccinated people, and they can’t even be sure the infections didn’t originate before they had both doses - this in a state that has 700,000 active covid cases. The headline should read “vaccination a massive success, better than trial data”...

Yeah based purely on the demographics of my icu (people who can’t work from home, basically), to me it’s very much workplace spread that is the issue. I’m sure young people breaking lockdown & schools going back too early plays a big role in spreading it to other demographics but I think the demonisation of “lockdown breaking” as driving wave 2 really brutally maligns the people who are actually dying of this disease.

Heard the Welsh first minister on Today this morning defending an absolutely brain meltingly stupid decision on their vaccine programme.
Apparently they have a limited stock of Pfizer (another delivery next month) so have deliberately slowed the pace of administration to stretch it until the next shipment “because we don’t want our vaccinators sat around with nothing to do”.
Who the fuck is advising these people?!?

Ironically given your friend’s experience, the FDA paperwork explains that the special syringes are only required if you want to get 6 doses out of the vial. Normal ones would get you 5 with a small amount of wastage per dose losing the 6th one.
They could happily have tried using normal 1ml syringes & 25G needles to draw up as many of the 200 leftover doses as possible - some may well have been up to the 0.3ml mark.
The syringes can be pre-drawn and administered within 2h so plenty of time to work out how many doses you’ve got left.
The NHS is amazing in most regards but the management can be quite “computer says no”.

Like new - could never get the mount to play nice with my helmet so never been used other than turning it on to test it.
Buggered the mount when I was messing around with it - they’re about £20 new I think.
Looks like the light goes for about £80 new - anybody fancy it for £45?
