Fun when you forget that you're on flat pedals eh?
The resulting stack using those adapter plates looks pretty brutal. Walking on stilts.
I've thrown a ton of time and money at this with marginal but appreciative gains. Some said they would choose a different sport. Others recommended to buy an ebike...

That's really interesting. So normal shoes and you drilled it after knowing the position you need?
What brought you down that path? Joint pain? Tendon pain? Numbness? Or sth else?
I bought the Swiss adapters for both cleat styles last year. I meant to try them out on the indoor bike during the winter but never got to it. I'm chasing a solution for the dull rusty knife that Ulrich 50 describes. Like he says, I've learned to accept it, but it can't be right.

Until last week, I never knew how incredibly uncomfortable our wooden kitchen chairs are. We've had them for about 10 years and never harboured any bad feelings towards them. Now it's like, fuck those chairs!
Was thinking a drum stand with saddle mod might be a good alternative. Wonder if a day on that would still cause chaffing.

Just videos yeah, https://fulgaz.com/fulgaz-rides/
You can watch them without an account, and download them in multi resolutions with a membership. With a membership and a direct drive trainer it changes the resistance based on grade. The interesting thing with the Tacx software, which only works with a Tacx as far as I know, is that you can load/create GPS routes and ride them. There is certainly enough time left to ride the TCR2021 route a few times over :)

This winter I tried out FulGaz. First time with such a software. Was pretty cool. Put an old monitor on a workshop stand in front of the bike. The thing I liked best were the memories of the ride throughout the day. It was almost as if I was somewhere else. I did a lot of racing sim back in the day and thought what it would be like to get a projector and beam those vids on a wall.

Hows everyone doing? And what have you been doing to amuse yourself? Are all your bikes well oiled and squeaky clean? Or all salty from sweat and tears?
Recently built up an old frame to use as a commuter aaaaaand we're locked down. A 1x experiment with 36 up front and 11/46 at the rear. Tops out at about 36km/h and is easy climbing.
My friend in the big east of France says he can't ride more than 1km from his house and they have said that rule could be extended until mid June. That is pretty harsh. He's so happy he has a tacx.
Strange times, stay strong, stay positive and stay healthy.

Just noticed this.
Silly me still using thumbs, palms, water and levers. So old skool.
Holding out for the mini version. Maybe we can ask Silca to make one...

With 12T difference up front, everything is pretty happy. so @atz, keep that in mind.
-
but what was the difference in teeth on your front rings? You run a 34/48 right?
In my testing on an 11/42 rear, once you add the extra chain links, and have a 16 tooth difference up front, the R8000/RX800 rear mech starts to be unhappy in the smaller cogs due to the short cage length. Like when running small to small front and rear rings.
If you have 34/48 = 14T or a 34/46 = 12T, the mech stretches its leg more, has more spring tension and thus keeps the chain more taut. -
When I bought the GRX crank I included the front mech + clamp.
Turned out the R8000 mech worked just fine.
The GRX + clamp was an extra €20 over the R8000.Surely there is sound technical reason Shimano states the R7000 & 8000 are incompatible.
Maybe we just got lucky with our bikes?
Kudos to Shimano mechs for being so forgiving. -
was hard pressed to find a difference between the mechanical R8000 & GRX front mechs.
Pulled out the vernier (with battery but sans cap of course) and measured.
The cage shape is a tad different, everything else was the same.
My conclusion? R8000 mechanical front mech can handle it all, GRX is braze on only and thus may need clamp = more cash for no reason.
Hehehe, then you're gifted with yet another skill I lack. Like a crow of judgement, I zoom into all the finish line and party pics to see what's available. Not a hazy DIPA in sight. Did spot a Staropramen though.
I can totally relate to vegan & vegetarians, "yeah sorry I can't drink that, I suffer from a severe and terminal case of beer snobbery".
That said, the next TCR finish should be sponsored by a craft brew no? Would that have any effect on the scratch rate?
