Just seen this video on Facebook (shared by the London Museum of Water and Steam in Chiswick, which I thoroughly recommend): https://www.facebook.com/TechInsiderUK/videos/646410762232980/
Apologies if you're sensible enough not to have a Facebook account, but I'm not clever enough (and too idle) to work out how to post the non-Facebook link.
I'd love to build one of these... -

Just fitted this Surly front rack on my Long Haul Trucker. It's strong but not very light, made of alloy so that it will be easily weld-able in the event that it breaks while crossing the Irrawaddy and has to be repaired by a local blacksmith (don't think that's going to happen to me).
Comes in silver as well. Haven't tested it under load yet. It allows you to hang your panniers high or low and has a shelf as well

I was planning to do the Euro Velo route - I've downloaded all 8,473 stages onto my useless Garmin Touring Edge Plus, which I am currently intending to rely on....
yours pessimistically (as far as route finding is concerned) and optimistically (as far as having fun is concerned). I'm not much looking forward to the ride to the ferry this side...
