The problem with sliding dropouts is that you have the aluminium sliding portion that is around 7mm thick and then you have the steel portion that it slides in that is a similar thickness, this will make the area around the rear axle even wider, if heel rub is an issue for you, any of these double thickness dropouts are going to cause a heel clearance problem for you, especially on a short chainstay.

Hammer a star nut into the bottom of the steer tube, then use a stack of washers/wine corks/whatever else you have laying around over a long m6 stainless bolt or length of all thread with a nyloc nut on the end to space the mudguard to perfection?

Replace the piece of string on there with a paracord loop that’s big enough to get one or two fingers in to pull the zip open/closed.

You’d be surprised, I’ve worked at places in the past where there was so much personal work going on, I’m surprised that any company work got completed!

I believe that the are Marin cantilevers. They were spec’d as OE equipment on certain years of Marins. I’m sure they were made by Tektro though.

I have a Temple Adventure disc fork available, unused. It’s an early one with qr dropouts and mounts for plenty of stuff, the crown is also drilled so can be used with a long drop calliper, if that’s if interest let me know and I’ll get some pictures for you
