So the 1975 Shimano 105 5500 groupset is going on the DQ, I also ordered some all silver Mavic Open Air wheels built on Miche Primato hubs. They got damaged in transit and returned to sender before they arrived with me and I am waiting on a new pair being built so looking at a 2 week delay.
Will be running a Shimano Sora 9 speed cassette and KMC 9 speed chain, new tape and cables all round and gatorskins and conti tubes. Still have a small list of parts to buy.
Anyway here is the Raleigh 531c Luxe frameset I picked up on the LFGSS site.
This is going single speed with a flip flop hub no doubt, have rode or owned or bought any single speed parts in my life so any direction advice feel free.

Little bit of an update.
The Dave Quinn & Raleigh Winner sat in my shed for a long while since I started this thread.
Anyway I picked up a Raleigh Milk Racer from Gumtree and bought a Shimano 105 group set and the plan was to put this on the RMR. When the 105 groupset arrived and seeing how clean it was I decided it was to nice to put on the RMR and decided to bite the bullet and finally get the Dave Quinn built.
Some photos of the RMR
And the groupset I picked up from Ebay. (Levers & Chain not pictured)
Anyway I sold the RMR after a small service and a clean for a small profit.
The Raleigh Winner I was originally going to do a 1x9 conversion with SRAM parts as a runaround hack.
This has now been given to my friend who does work on my bikes along with the 1x9 parts.
The Raleigh Winner went to my friend as I picked up a Raleigh 531c Luxe frame from the calssified section on here on freecycle and made a donation to the LFGSS website.
Some photos of the DQ after a wipe down after taking it out of the shed.

So my main bike is my Trek Emonda ALR 2018 running Ultegra R8000
But I still wanted to build up a single speed and also wanted to have a bike I can ride and leave locked up without worrying too much.
So I picked up the Dave Quinn from Ebay, seen online that Dave Quinn was Wirral based and this is where the bike was located so obviosuly locally bought and kept. Luckily for me a good friend of mine lives in Wirral and was a 2 minute walk from the Ebay dude & even luckier for me my mates mrs lives in SE London.
Frame : Dave Quinn 25" 531C
Forks : Dave Quinn 531
Wheels : Mavic Freewheel 5 Speed Campag Hubs & QRI have started stripping the frame down now, I usually get a friend of mine to work on my bikes for me but I'm now buying tools and having a crack myself.
Will get some updated photos soon
The plan is to go SS, change the wheel set and probably go with a black seat post and drop bar combo. Not sure totally what set up I want to go with, I usually end up impulse buying so will see as time goes on.
Need to give the frame a clean up and see how it comes up, paint does look a bit flat but can't seem to find decals online for a repaint.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POST ANY INSPO OR IDEAS.
Also a bike I won for £12.50 on ebay 4 miles away from home. Perfect to leave locked up, sick of hopping on OFO bikes and Ubers
This has been pretty much stripped down also now, had a fight with some rusty bolts but the seat post is stuck in good. Will get this out next week.
This is probably going to take the current wheels off of my Trek Emonda and going for a 1X10 conversion with a flat bar and upgrade the brakes. Want to try keep it cheap as possible.
I also have a MTB that I have bought bits for that I am doing a 1X10 conversion (which I am hoping to transfer most of this over)
Probably not the best first post for a project post but wanted to get something up.

Looking for a bit of help.
My bike I ride to work currently (Felt F85 10 Speed) is pretty much complete to a point I am happy enough with it to only worry about maintaining it for now, anyway.
But now I would like to build up a single speed cyclocross for commuting to work, it's only a few miles but once a week going down the canal / greenway.
I would like to buy a frame and build it up from there but I'm not sure on how much I should budget really as it will be winter beater but I don't want a rust bucket by any means.
I want to have some chunky tyres, drop bars, single speed (already mentioned), mudguards, flat pedals and ideally hydraulic disc brakes. Although I do have some spare 700C wheels laying around but rim brakes. Do CX bikes take 700C wheels? I'm not even sure.
What frames do people recommend looking at? I'm happy to go ally or steel but of course I won't complain going ally and making it slightly lighter.
Sizing is the issue. I'm 6"6' / 6"7' with long legs. My current bike is a 61CM Felt and I have just purchased a longer seat post as original was seized but at a position to small, not sure how much extension of it I could have got.
Thanks for the help.

I also picked up an alu road bike on ebay and was listed with a 'possible' cracked fork.
It was only listed as a resprayed Pinarello. Narrowed it down to a late 90's early 00's Pinarello Paris with Campagno parts. Mirage calipers & derailleurs & crank. Veloce levers.
How I picked it up once I got it home.
Also turned out the Airline Rdoi rear wheel brake rim was worn to far so picked up a cheap set of Shimano wheels from Wiggle. Now on Gatorskins. Also with a Shimano Sora 9 speed 11-30 cassette and with a new Shimano 9 speed chain.
Took off the white drop bars and Dema stem and replaced with a black deda stem and some black Specialized shallow bars I had laying around.
Removed the white saddle on and stuck on a black gel Specialized saddle I also had laying around and it had new brake and gear cables and some black outers and this was how it sat for a few days.
Picked up a new fork from BLB this morning
Will get some photos once it's all finished. The plan is to bare metal the frame or silver if that doesn't work out.
