No specific fixed shops, there is Start-Cycles in central Newcastle that stock some high-end big-name road and mountain bikes as well as a good selection of accessories. There's also M-Steel at Gosforth, again not a fixed specific shop...

I'm thinking that, a single-speed CX bike is certainly on the cards at the minute I think...

I've sent an email to Ted James (Superted) who often built frames for them to see if they are still on the go. It's a shame if they have stopped altogether, made some really nice frames.

I've heard no updates from them since 2014, I emailed them about a single-speed CX bike and still have no response.

I've had this frame over a year now, I hope to have it finished by the end of the year. It's a 1994 Dave Yates Diabolo in a fairly large 21" frame size built in Columbus Cromor tubing. I bought it off a guy who had used it for touring across the Scottish Isles and also through Europe. It came in pretty rough condition, the paint is in fairly rough condition with many battle scars and surface rust. Sadly the original paint being a blue to silver fade had been removed. I would keep the original paint usually, however It's been such a bad job with many runs so I believe it deserves better.

As shown one of the rear-derailleur cable guides has lost its paint and has pittered so a new one will be brazed on before paint. It will probably go to Kevin Winter for a repaint, at the same time I will get the rear spacing re-set to 135mm instead of the current 130mm, just to open more options to what rear wheels I could run. I'm thinking of keeping the paint simple and going for a plain white enamel with matching forks.

I have already obtained a couple of parts for it a M730 Groupset, M735 Thumbies, A Ritchey Vantage on XT hubbed wheelset, some nearly new Tioga Farmer John Tyres, USE flat bar and a Mavic 305 headset.

There is a few bits I need before my Pre-paint mock-up, a USE seatpsot, Flite Saddle, Kona P2 forks, a new BB and a Ritchey/Nitto Quill stem. I will probably re-new the drivetrain which is fairly worn with some new Stronglight chainrings, cassette, chain and jockey wheels.

I hope you all like how the build is going so far!

Does anyone know if 14 is still on the go? Never hear anything from them now...
