Oh no, there’s been a terrible mix up!
When I said he walks to the beat of his own drum, I was merely referring to his independence of thought by way of a walking band metaphor (or marching really, glad no one picked me up on that howler).
I can see the confusion I have caused. I am sorry. So very very sorry.

Supply and demand? You must have skipped out on economics 101...
Supply and demand and meant to meet to create a market equilibrium, forcing sellers to charge the clearing price. Also, it’s a model that applies to commodities - which this is not. That’s 101.
What you’re doing here is fishing for a fool where you have an information advantage. Capitalism is always dragged out as the reason why dicks are allowed to act like dicks. Yet, it’s the free information flow within a community (might be on to 102 now, stay with me!) that rewards continued dickish behaviour with a reputation. You are now a dick.
Once you have the reputation of a dick, those in the community will warn others that you are a dick (what this post and broader thread have turned into) and your schtick will be dead. Repeat games - wait that’s 201...
Sit and chill or sold for bills? Holy shit, you said that just to annoy me... or are you being serious?

Super impressive considering he was in the break (but missed the final selection of 4). Glad for Kristof, he’s a good lad and clearly wanted to make the point that he’s not done yet and he could ride away from Gaviria.
Great racing yesterday, with the Yates brothers bringing some real panache to the weekend at the Volta Catalunya too.

I’m going to this stage, so have done a fair bit of reading to try to understand it.
As best I can tell, there will be three groups: top 20 GC, next and last. The top 20 will be on the grid mentioned above.
Standing start or rolling? How far are the groups apart? What numbers in each group? No f... idea.
The way this plays out in my mind is, at this stage of the tour, time gaps will be significant enough to have the GC guys racing for podium/position. So the guys at the pointy end may wait for their cavalry; but if someone goes, whoever is in front of them has to go and so on. And then who is going to back themselves from 65km out over 3 cols?
So the question is:
What gap will allow someone to swing from the fences? -
Trying to think through the Barguil Look saga rationally, in a cool headed retrospective way might miss how it may have gone down.
- Barguil has bad start to season, unfairly blames bike
- Changes bike without clearing it (with Look/with management/with somebody?)
- Look finds out, trust lost
Occams’ razor and all that.
- Barguil has bad start to season, unfairly blames bike

Knew what I was getting into. Wife blew a rim three weeks out from setting off on a ride across the continent, so needed a stand in. Also, had to learn the tubeless, don’t particularly want to hit the learning curve somewhere in the middle of France. Worked out better than buying a cheap rim for three weeks.
That being said, very impressed with the Hunts. Super high spec for the price point. Will be getting more.
All post-rationalisations, I’m sure.

The process I use is a combination of discount to current retail price and sold items on eBay. That sounds similar to what you do @Dick, doesn’t it?
Additionally, I’m not so sure I’m worried about different perceptions of value. Everyone is always going to have a different use of an item and willingness/ability to pay. No problems!
It’s when lowballing on this forum becomes a business model. Everyone knows prices here are a touch lower than elsewhere, there’s a community element that’s in play.
What got on my nerves was the suspicion that someone is using that community spirit to make a quick buck, at the expense of the community.
Specific red flags, each by themselves completely harmless, but together made me post the above:
- Immediate DM when items listed
- Move to text ASAP
- “Are you ready to sell quickly?”
- After firm no, repeated text check-ins: “Hey, hows everything?”
- Same user constantly selling high end kit, claiming ‘new whip’
- Ads for same stuff on other sites at the same time
My honest guess is they’re playing a marketplace arbitrage game. Can’t prove it, have no interest in doing so. But I can choose not to be a part of it.
The reason I didn’t name names was I’m not certain, and it came up. No big deal.

I could lie and say I looked hard, but two pages back? C’mon, who goes that far back?
Surprised no one gives a fuck. Some say that particular teams from Middle East have this flywheel tech perfected.
