I didn't notice any problems with it. Riding the Amstel Gold route a few months ago. But if I understand you and if you're right, the (theoretical) problem can be solved by using a Shimano cassette (not sure what is on it now)
Bike is frequently used and kept up to date and served / replaced a part when needed. One example is the new FSA axle from titanium.
First owner, bought it around 2000/2001/2002, not sure. Saw it hanging a bike shop and felt in love immediately. Great bike, but I want to go back to steel. When it comes to weight, this alu bike is lighter and maybe better suited for climbing. Bike did well in the Alpes :)

Beautiful Eddy Merckx Flyer
Used but in good condition. Regularly used and kept in good condition as training bike (Amstel Gold Race route, few months ago). Replaced the bottom bracket for a FSA one, with a titanium axle, good stuff. No dents or anything. Some spots, mainly on the chainstay (see picture 4). Selling cause I'm going back to nostalgic steel, probably an Eddy Merckx again, great bikes! As I'm growing older weight and speed of the bike is becoming less important for me. ;)
