update - I’ve found a frame! On the lookout for a few other bits:
- SRAM 11sp long cage derailleur to replace bent Apex 1... (knocked coming down the Coriarrack Pass on the Badger Divide this weekend. Riding 200km on Scottish trails with my 2 easiest gears knocked out was not in the plans!)
- 1x 11sp - levers, brakes, rear mech, cassette (ideally after something between 42-48t).

been dreaming about upgrading my OG Sonder Camino with a Fairlight Secan before I spend the summer riding forest roads in BC this summer, but the Secan frame availability won’t match up with my trip plans..
Long shot, but just putting this out there in the hope someone might have a Secan frame/full build (54T or 54R) lying around..
Edit: found!

Built up a dynamo for my gravel/tourer and I’m looking for a decent front light (and potentially rear too). Will pay for postage to Bristol.
Also keen to hear recommendations for a dynamo USB charger I can use while touring. I have previously had Busch and Muller converters, but they both failed after a while - not fully waterproof I guess… anything else out there I should look out for?
Thanks

Looking for a new touring set up for alpine trips. I have a pair of K2 Wayback 106s which I used for a winter season in Squamish/Whistler/Sea to Sky, which is known for deep pow… https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/snow-sports/backcountry-skis/k2-wayback-106
They were my first pair of touring skis, and despite 50 days on them, I found them hard to ski - maybe they were too light and too long for a first backcountry pair (172cm, also my height), hard to ski in trees. Ultimately, I felt like I they required a more aggressive skier to not get bounced around. They are designed for powder and recommended mounting was quite far back (guess that’s why they’re “Wayback”), so I had to fight hard not to end up in the backseat. In contrast, I have a pair of Black Crow Deamons for resort/slackcountry - they’re so heavy, but an absolute joy to ski and make skiing through chunder fun... Obvs I don’t want to tour in anything quite as heavy, but I want to enjoy my now 1 week of skiing per year (now that I’m back in the UK).. so:
- recommended skis for touring trips to the Alps? What kind of width is best?
- Where’s a good place to look for second hand, other than Facebook/eBay
- recommendations for a good place to get bindings removed>mounted?
- Do I just preserve with the K2s?
Thanks

Calling all slug magnets!
I do a lot of bivvying - for the third, I awoke to a slug on my face while sleeping in the woods on the Gower this weekend. Actually, I had one on my face, and two in my hair.. the one on my face woke me up because I felt a pain a bit like a horsefly bite - apparently slugs don’t have teeth, but they “scrape” to eat things, including human skin. I have a small graze/scab on my face to prove it… nice!
I’d like to know if anyone has any tried and tested ways of preventing these slimy f*kers from violating you as you sleep? If not, this has happened enough times that I may have to splash out on a hooped/mesh cover Bivy bag.

Did the Cuillin Ridge in a day with @IdealStandard back in June and I can’t stop thinking about how much fun it was. We set off from Glenbrittle at 2.45am with some cold coffee in a soft flask, trudged up to the ride in time for sunrise, and arrived at the Slig for a burger and Guinness at 5pm. Took a small rack and a 6mm tagline so we were fast and light, and with wall to wall sunshine, route finding was a doddle. We had the climbs to ourselves (apart from the InnPinn, but folks were happy for us to solo past them) and everything went v smoothly - 10/10 day. We then posted our climbing stuff back to Bristol and cycled the Hebridean Way. A trip 100% by public transport and bikes - winner!
I know it’s seen as the UK’s only alpine-like route, but any recommendations for other great ridge routes/link ups that are smaller objectives? Or similar days out in the Alps we can put on the bucket list for another season?

Hi, looking to book a ski trip accessible via train in Feb with my mum and options are limited.. It seems to be accom that is most expensive, so I was thinking of finding somewhere we can stay in a non-resort town and get a bus/train to the lifts (she might not want to ski every day either). Somewhere like Bourg-saint-maurice and the funicular up to Les Arc.. Any other recommendations for somewhere we can stay affordably, but then travel to the resort on days we want to ski? Thanks

Thanks. How much are you after for the shifters and brakes?
