It's an epic run in one hit :)
Note worthy addition, if your low on fuel fill up in Fort William as several stations in and around town so prices are good, think the last one is by the Nevis distillery (maybe a BP) as you leave town to spean bridge.
Fuel stations are quirky and spread out and some have odd opening hours..... so don't expect 24/7 service outside Major towns, and pushing your luck only to find the station you run too closed 2 hours ago and don't reopen until Monday. Not happened to me, but heard tales of camper vanners and motorcyclists getting stranded :)
Can't remember if it's Portree or Broadford on Skye, one of them has a big co-op and fuel stop that might be card only auto pumps, average prices since the bridge went up for fuel...... i filled up on Mull once.... made motorway service stations seem cheap (joy of island life, everything costs more)

@tmevans Done that route to Fort William a few times. Skye is still a trek up from there.
And getting from the Skye bridge to Northern end is a big chunk of time too.Went from Ashford, early sunday morning start, M25 Dartford crossing, M1, Scotch Corner A66 to Penrith (banging bit of road) and made Gretna in 6 1/2 hours. Glasgow, maybe 1 1/2 hours, avoid going to Fort William via Loch Lomond as the road is awful, head up to Stirling and get off near Dunblane which is the route for lorries, much better and faster road with many chances to overtake sensibly. You do see speed mobile speed cameras at odd times (late night/early morning) as Glencoe/Rannoch is fast A road and high incident when windy or Deer about at night or people running out of talent.
Might do Fort William to Skye in 1 1/2 - 2 hours, roads would be empty, but snow/ice/wandering deer. From Scotch Corner, maybe 45mins to 1 hour to M6, from there to Glasgow motorway is fairly empty and nothing like M20/M25/M1 etc etc.
Depends on fuel tank range, how strong is your bladder and actually cruising at 70 you might get there in 11.
12 hours as a baseline, with a clean run and F1 style pitstop for fuel and toilet and maybe... 11, if you hit traffic maybe 14 hours. -

£150 at Argos :) maybe cheaper in London with one of the smaller frame builders.

In theory yes if the head tube has been brazed/soldered in and not welded...... it "might" be as simple as sweat out the tube (melt the filler brass/silver) and insert a new one.
If the crack goes into the lugs then new lugs etc etc.
Just a case of finding someone who will do it and how much. Argos might even have it as a repair item in their price list. -
well, it's been a month since our cat turned growly and hissy.
been to vet's, can't find anything wrong.
Just had a few days in cattery with no major drama, but the cattery staff aren't with the cat all the time and said he is chatty/happy mostly because it means feeding time, and he asks for seconds like he always does.
vet and cattery both suggested he will take a while to settle down as we moved house in August.
I don't know maybe this is delayed shock to moving and cat is older this time.had to pick up some flea treatment from vet (village vets) and spied a Feliway plug in pack, enquired about price (had already considered this to try next) and it was a spendy £37 each, so back to amazon and have 2 plug in atomisers at like £31 then 2 refills. So we get to plug one in upstairs and downstairs and nuke the house for 2 months and see if he reverts back to normal over next few weeks......

Did go looking at blanks and build up parts, surprisingly cheap unless you go for a high end Brands own made blank.
Not that hard to build up....... except getting the rings in perfect position and neat whippings :)
Not fishing but just back from Scotland and watching salmon fishers from the comfort of the hotel's bay window. Taking rod next time.

Not that much detail in the old testament of sheldon RIP
Cones are cheap and mass produced, i had a tin full of them and used to pick and mix.
Maybe avoid the really cheap axle/cone/bearing kits as i bent 3 solid axles from them, i suspect the Halfords quality is not that high, just the price, would give one a go though if stuck.Howards right though, good LBS would have a box full of the things and should sell loose ball bearings to suit.
Take your axle and cones to LBS. The Wheels manufacturing parts are nice and you get quality parts that are better made than the rest of the set up :) -

Any other info.
Hub make/brand model, old or current in case you have a weird one with brand quirks.Have you checked SJS for cones..... https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/other-hub-spares/?page=5

Got round to ordering a new rod.
Bit flash in some eyes...... having a small tweedy game shop build me up a 4 piece 9' 6" 6/7wt with extra lined rings on a Harrison carbon blank. And they had no issues about going near salt water....unlike a dealer at the game fishing show at the London design center earlier this year who briskly took the rod out of my hands when i mentioned "salt water" :)
Having a longer removeable fighting butt added too and Blue whippings. Might have it in a month's time.
My rod builder is called James.A nicer experience than randomly clicking on a website for a mass produced item from a sweat shop factory with a big brand name on it :)

Would be more concerned about irate owner going off on one and assuming i knocked the bike over or was trying to steal it.
Sign of the times, few decades ago people would go out of there way to help, now the first thought is if i involve myself will i get blamed, be dealing with the police or get sued if by helping something else goes wrong.

The CT photo's doing the rounds may have had an old photo slipped in, some say it has hi-lo box as per a set of photos and others say no.
Made enquireys about the CT110 when that came out but it wasn't destined for Euro Zone on emissions reasons and requirements of FI and ABS, which appear to have been addressed.Going by Super Cub pricing i doubt the CT125 will be cheap like a PCX :( (which is what i keep looking at)

Dear Italjet.
Stop faffing and release the damn thing and pricing in the Uk. Would buy if it was available in UK in 200cc.

Dear Mr Honda San.
Stop faffing and sort this out. You teased with the CT110 cross cub and then only released in asian markets. Granted the CT125 Cross Cub / Trail Hunter (for maybe us and the Yanks) is a peach, but stop screwing about and make it happen or i am going to get a 2 stroke vespa with fuck off knobbly tyres and waft about in a blue haze instead.

Joy of car.
20 miles into a 200miler car sounds a bit sportier.
25 miles in car sounds a bit Harley Davidson.
30 miles in i start looking for a lay by thats wide and not littered with excrement and bottles of piss so i can "have a look" underneath.
35 miles in.... choices.... exhaust silencer has snapped at the weld from back box to connector. Can call AA who won't fix it but would escort me to a garage that might have the part on the shelf. Most likely be an overnight delivery. Can just return home and try there.
No joy, wandered into a tyres/batteries/exhaust while you wait place, got ignored (not as if they didn't hear me drive in) drove home tried locals.
With discounts an tings now waiting on delivery from eurocarparts for a new silencer.
Last time this fell off it cost £109 fitted and 24-48hour wait for part to arrive. Might get the part Monday or Tuesday maybe Wednesday but self fitting and the dizzy sum of £60Car MOT expires next May. Car is being scrapped then, we might not make the goal of 200k miles on a 3cyl 993cc unit :)
Going to look at scooters as a back up as moved a bit rural from the M20 corridor..... -
The more pro side of things.

There is an active race series in the UK.
I did look into it, the bike was the cheap part. Buy in to race involved getting a moto race legal helmet and full set of leathers, turning up with MX armour on body and arms/legs didn't count, still needed a set of leathers and stickered race legal helmet.
Bikes are based around a flipped BMX frameset, there are maxium weights and length dimensions to adhere too and there is a set of "international rules" which form the basic guidelines. The videos show a lot of BMX frames where the frame is upside down. No cranks needed and flipping the frame rakes out the headangle and increases wheelbase. UK scene is unfaired non-aero bikes with only a small handlebar fairing allowed (there is a max dimension) flipping BMX handle bars takes the effect of motorcycle clip-on's. Think the max weight for bike is 30kg although international rules have a higher limit. More weight for gravity racing is good.
For most the bike is fishing a BMX out of the canal, flipping it over, welding on a new seatbase from the BB to chainstays, making sure the brakes work or grafting on disc brakes, add foot pegs, again bmx foot pegs do nicely, nice paint job and race :)

The jacked up Jimney a few pages back won't end well. Seems the Americans have forgotten the issues they induced onto the LJ and SJ series.
My first car was an LJ80 hardtop, 993cc about 35mpg, big fuck off tyres and a nightmare to insure...
Because the yanks couldn't grasp the short wheelbase, narrow track and high center of gravity does not go round corners well at speed.
Many accidents and death and sue Suzuki and ramp up insurance costs for sensible people in other countries followed.
When trying to get cover on mine the broker was getting limited as no one would touch them as they where the ones that just roll over.Had mine up on two wheels many times. Did lots of offroading with landies and Range rovers where the compact size of the LJ had many advantages and could drive round stuck larger vehicles. Was cramped in the back, managed to get 6 adults in total in mine (4 in back) with shotguns and no one shot a hole in the roof and it didn't fall over.
After seeing that jacked up blackbison thing i suspect history will repeat itself. Very capable little vehicles if driven within there limits and you understand COG and rollover limits. The LJ's never had the inclinometers fitted i assume they got fitted to later models as a get out clause for user error. -

Mo has been showing odd behaviour recently.
Last couple of months, moved house. Little fella took a while to settle down, kept him in for 2 weeks and now nearly 2 months later he comes and goes as he pleases. has bought in presents etc etc.
About 3 weeks ago the litter tray was removed as cat was just whizzing in it, and going out for a poop. I have been away for a week and half and need to go off again.Cat is eating, sleeping, letting himself in and out. Seems settled and happy normal.
Nothing today but other half pointed out she thinks he is drinking more (maybe because he isn't going out as much) and he has strange grumbling moments.
The most vocal the other night.
cat comes in, jumps on bed says hello has a fuss. think he humped the duvet then goes and curls up on floor in corner and goes to sleep.....
Starts grumbling, then meows...swooshing tail then starts hissing.
5 mins later as if nothing has happened.
Happened a few times now, odd behaviour but in general cat seems bright alert, eating, mobile.Any thoughts ?
Has he nicked the Queens seat ? :)
in other news.... 2x feliway plug in's have arrived and are now plugged in hopefully atomising calming vibes into the house and thus the hissy grumbly cat that has replaced ours.
