Stories of Bike.
I had to leave home and get a mortgage before i could a bike. Parents were dead against it.
Mum was a vespa rider in the 60's and Dad had several bikes, when we came along the bikes went, i only remember him coming home once on a sidecar outfit.
Turns out because mum&dad where a bit wild they assumed we would be so no go for me and my brothers.
I have had stories of pub runs involving taking the "back" road to village pub with 2 pillions, 1 on the fuel tank and sometimes one sat on the handlebars + actual rider, no helmets and coming back at kicking out time pissed......
The 60's :)Also a neat series on you tube stories of biek, nice and glossy, bit hipster, love this one from 2014 on the 250cc theme, nothing to do with the landscape or riders :)

Think this is what mine was, some subtle differences, maybe mine was a CSR not LTD, I changed to lower bars (faster) :)
Despite doing Direct access and trying a few big bikes even back then insurance had to be considered. I didn't like the top heavy feel of the Dakar types, sport bikes had crap low speed manners so i just stuck with 250, it would drop a lot of cars at the lights, was light in weight, nimble would do 85 ok but not nice as no fairing, just B road blasting and cruising it was ace fun.

Will add to the value when sell it on "comes with workshop manual" :)

Found an online piccy.
Mine was banana yellow Zed 250 single, drum braked mag wheels and if you got down on the tank and put your face on the clocks, used the pillion pegs as rearsets then it would do 90'ish my chrome mudguards had rotted so the rear came off and the front I think was something from a RD350

It's rites of passage, your first motorcycle shall be a dog and you will have to fix it on the side of the road :)
Sediment/rust in mine. Clear inline filter and clear fuel line so you could see what was going on, guess when it was fitted on mine they never cleaned out the carb. Petrol everywhere when i took it apart :) i used an inline filter for a car on mine because in my head a bigger filter ment more fuel flow so Beik will be faster.
-
Maybe the fuel filter is full of crap too, mine used to, had to flush the tank a few times and drop the carb bowl to empty it.
learnt my DAS ticket on a Suzuki 650DR single, that was a bastard to start and also prone to stalling until it was fully warmed up, then a bastard to start when it was hot, great fun when stalling your way around town trying to kick start it and hope you don't get kickback and end up on the floor or get pitched over the bars.
There was of course a knack to. I didn't master it and got a leccy starter instead :) -
Few days after buying my bike i was riding along and my leg had a warm moist feel, like i was wetting myself.
One of the head bolts had stripped the threads and was blowing oil up my leg, shop fixed it.
much later i had a local service the bike.... thrust washer missing from cam shaft so a bit of cam float, wrong chain and sprocket and oversize rear tyre which had been trimmed by the chain slightly, i was wondering at this point how my bike got the MOT.
Had 3 years of fun and a new swing arm spindal and front tyre before the flywheel magnets failed (fell apart) pre-internet days so scrap yards and small ads. Couldn't get the part and breakers wouldn't buy my bike for spares because the parts it needed where the only bit's they where interested in.
Sat in a garage for several years until one day we happened on someone who had the same bike except someone drove a lorry over the back of his so he had a good engine....... i had a bike with a broken engine, two become one :)
£500 beater Z250 single learnt a bit keeping that on the road ;) -

Could be worse.
You could be on Patient Transport, pick up anywhere from 30mins to 3-4 hours prior to appointment (depending on your location and drop off)
Get to appointment early/on time then be told it's cancelled then go and wait for your transport home which depending on booking could be a few hours wait, if it's busy and transport is beyond capacity it could be 4-6 hours wait + trip home time :( -
Round-a-bout tale.
As EE have decided to turn my sim card off and reallocate my number, then not be very helpful when i get in touch about my phone being turned off because i am now not the account holder so they won't tell me anything......... the reason i am in your shop is because your telling me you have given my number away..... twats.
Anyways, now have to remove phone number from secure things.James my rod builder has my mobile number.
I haven't heard anything, or paid anything, but my family might have, i hope theydidn't call "me" got the other person and shipped my rod elsewhere.....So i call the shop. Everything is good. As predicted by shop they don't have the blank yet as waiting on Harrisons to lay up the carbonz. Might have rod before christmas :) that will teach me for ordering something out of stock for a custom build.

The black cat "Thing" is mostly down to deep rooted superstition. They are both Lucky and Unlucky depending where you are in the world.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_catCouple of hundred years having a black cat would have been enough evidence for the Witch Finder General to burn you alive. Unknown if the WFG Matthew Hopkins is a distant relative of what could be called a modern witch hunter and someone who uses scaremongering for there own ends Katie Hopkins.

Show the GF the Stolen bikes thread and how many get pinched from hallways and gardens and sheds and balconys, and even from inside the front door if the bike can be seen through the letter box....
Or if it's really a non issue get her to underwrite a new one for you and ongoing replacements when they go missing :)

I like it more when newbies try to sell used foffas :)
The trouble with bespoke as already pointed out is the frame size and geo is made to order for the OP so you have a narrow market of buyers who might fit around the bespoke size.
It's a nice frame built with mid range parts that are functional.
What tubing is the frame made of..... apart from Steel, what grade steel, what brand, did Ricky mix and match for OP requirements or is say for arguments sake a full reynolds 853 tubeset (it won't be) -
Had an FXE with the winter/grass/mudguard fork.
I could fit Conti 35mm CX race tyres, loads of caliper room, issue was sidewall clearance was minimal to the point of a muddy ride or any flex in front wheel or wheel out of true would have the side wall rubbing away the carbon fork.
I reckoned on 32 max and avoid very muddy towpaths or park rides would be okay, which is handy as a lot of choice on cx tyres in that size.Rear is a case of altering sprocket size/chain length to get the tyre back enough to clear.

So far one rod and 3 reels. In a few weeks be 2 rods.
Some of the fly fishing gear is vastly overpriced and like the bike world "lighter is better"
The black plastic reel is the Sigma combo set, came with a carry case, loaded with a floating line and backing, just add a leader line and fly on the end and good to go. However I can't find spare spools unless I buy another Sigma reel then it comes with a spare spool. New reel is about £28+P&P I got the combo set from John Norris of Penrith for £50 when everywhere else was £75 or £85
After much hunting around, an Orvis Battenkill III + two spare spools is around £200 nice, but not right now. Was swaying towards an old used Hardy Sunbeam as classic, well made, simple and out of favour so fairly cheap, cheaper than a Marquis reel. And spares are out there.
Then on the same website an old pair of Intrepid GearFly's popped up, two reels + two spare spools + all loaded with various 8wt lines £40 the lot.
Both needed work and all needed cleaning up, must have been a garage clear out find.
The plastic Sigma reel is getting (at some point) a sinking line and is just going to be for saltwater use.
One of the gearflys is getting stripped and all the casting marks are getting filed off and the cage is being repainted to match the new rod, going to leave the spools alone in classic grey/silver. So I can have 3 spools with Float/Intermediate/Sink line on and have a spare complete reel for freshwater work and experiment with the 8wt lines on the new rod. Both rods are rated as 6-7wt so will work better with that range but the sigma rod loses distance with the heavier 8wt, that and the lines are a double taper and my 7wt are a weight forward profile which is easier to use.
Got the gash orange and lurid green backing lines to brighten things up :) -
I left my snapped and repaired £50 Shakespeare rod/reel at home :)
Walked the bank and decided wellies would do next time, also the day ticket was £60 because Salmon. when the day price drops to £10 - £20 i will go back.Went over to the nearest fishery again today. Not so busy so was able to have a quick look at the lakes, grab some garish bright backing line and some braided loops and a pile of catalogues from the rather good shop :) and tales of 20lb rainbow trout in the lakes.....

Gotta love a church cat :)
When Lincoln Cathredal was being worked on several years ago the workers had a sense of humour and cut a cat-head shaped portal through the ply-wood screen and made up a mini Health & Safety notice to pin next to it. Don't think the cat ever wore his hard hat but he could come and go from mousing duties as he pleased :)
In other news.
Subjected to a breakfast time tantrum this morning, followed by breakfast, then sleeps then checking humans plates after human breakfast, then more grumbling, now sleeps again. Not even 24 hours in with project "Nuke it from orbit with felliway, it's the only way to be sure"
Not expecting a sudden change, but think mood has altered slightly.
Got 2 months worth of passive calming, would like to see a positive change in next couple of weeks, run the 2 months, maybe run a third month on one atomiser and see what happens.
We think he's about 10 years old so maybe he is turning into a grumpy old man early.
Was looking at the brake mount too, Cinelli website don't show it, it would appear that it's a 2020 spec frame that has the rear brake mount.
Lack of mount put me off the garish steel vig and onto a Steamroller instead, kinda neat they have got round to running a choice for SS or fixed as i didn't fancy either clamping a caliper to the chainstays or seatstays........ kinda liking the rollers tyre clearance though..... :)
