Thanks for comments, I don't have to use cycle scheme but thought it is good to save the money.

It is either go with the scheme, upgrade my frame or replace with a nicer full bike.

What are Foffa like? I have seen that Velorution have an SS for £380 on the scheme.

I am thinking of getting a new bike through the cycle scheme at work. I am based near Goodge Street and there is a Evans near by, I assume they are a good option? What bike are best to choose at the cheaper end of the single speeds available? Looks like they have a Fuji, Charge and Jamis Beatnik - are any of these good options?

I have just ordered some BLB cross top levers, I want to use them on their own with my riser bar, how do I fit the cables correctly without the 'barrel' holder used on normal levers? Do I need different cables? Thanks.

The bb I have bought is STD TAPER. Not sure what the crankset is I guess I'll have to replace one of these new parts again. How do I know what size I need for each they both look the same to me.

I have now replaced the bottom bracket with what appeared to be a shorter but the cranks do not appear to go onto the bb far enough, I'm not sure what the problem is. Is it because I have got a badly sized crank set?

Where it is, the chain line is not right. What are the measurements I need to take when replacing the bb. I Know nothing about them?

I have bought a new cheap crankset to get started and new chain. However the crankset doesn't appear to be as flush against the bottom bracket as it should. Should I tighten more or do I need a new bb too?

I'm building my first budget fixed gear and need some help. I have an old frame and have recently got some new wheels with a flip flop rear. When I fitted the wheels the single speed seems ok but when I turned the rear wheel round to be fixed, the cog appears to be a different size between the teeth and the chain won't fit.

I am not sure what to do next and do with some help. I will need to buy a new crankset as it is currently still the dual cog from the 10 speed. I'm guessing I need to buy a crankset, chain and rear fixed cog that all match? How many diffent sizes are there and what size should I be looking for?

Going to pick up a new set of wheels this weekend so i guess I'm going to convert it!

That sounds like a good plan.

Do you need a new chain for that or just remove the links?

I have a very old Coventry Eagle road bike that I currently use for the ride to work. I have been thinking that I want a SS or fixie. I was wondering if I would be better to buy a new bike a sell my CE, or convert mine. I do not have a lot of money to do either and was wondering people opinions.
