Hi all, i was wondering if anyone had tried building a track wheel with a trials hub? like this one:
http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/116mm_fixed_hubs/echo_tr_rear/c62p10706.html
the hub is 32 hole, and weighs in at ~170g, its also pretty cheap £45. but theres a few issues:
1) threads. there is no counter rotating thread on this hub, so the lockring would have to thread on in the same direction. i dont think this should be such a huge problem
2) as i understand it, these are designed for 116mm not 120mm frames. washers?
3) i cant for the life of me find the chainline for the hub. i guess its 43mm?
4) bearings, i guess trials bikes have no need for efficient bearings, but i think i can probably replace them if they are duff?
if theres any other glaring reasons i shouldnt try to build a wheel up with one of these, please tell me before i find out through trial and error :)

HI all,
Basically as the title says im searching for a 110BCD track chainring. gebhardt apparently do them, or their product list claims to, but actually sourcing one is a challenge to say the least.
rotor also do one, but its about a hundred quid, which i think is steep.
the only other option would be bespoke, they may do a custom one if i ask nice enough, but it would cost an arm and a leg (although it would also be sexy as hell).
does anyone know of any other company that do them? should i start looking at multispeed rings? cos there are a ton of them.

Came so close to ordering one of those a while back but opted for my Victoire instead. Having said that...... dibs if you ever decide to part with it. Oh and please please put some risers on there
im afraid someone else has already dibbed it! your victoire is a beauty btw. im liking the rotor crankset, i was actually going to upgrade the omniums on my nicolai to rotors, try and shed a bit of weight, also the omniums had the good ol clearance issue so i had to take a file to them to get em to fit!

Might just be the camera angle but the non-symmetrical stays look odd to me.
nah, its the camera angle, im useless at taking good pictures.
brief update, i was tinkering with some different forks, and found that theres enough clearance to barspin. now im kinda tempted to put some medium width, riser bars on....

haha actually considering bending it back into "shape" hahahaa what is the point
i didnt have a bike and needed one asap.
has anyone else attempted to deliberately apply some bendage to a steel frame?
It's not fucking easy, and I'm an ingenious bodger!it can be done provided you dont crease the frame! this means no vices or hammers. i managed to get it as good as true without creasing the frame, but then the crank arms copped it as it was LHD (although i did locktite the pedals in, im not sure how this happened, the same pedals also threaded an omnium crank arm). the botched frame did last long enough for me to get a new frame though (Nicolai fixie)
anyway, the update, all is not lost! I still have one part left, and i have plans :)

sort of. i have a rear tubular aerospoke spoke set. i have removed the hub because when i bought it off someone, it had parts missing, he claimed the post lost it, the post claimed he didnt pack it, it never got resolved.
i took the hub out with intention of putting a new one in (was going to convert to front wheel), then i lost interest.
currently i use it to hang lost socks on, so it may come with an odour.
bump for AKG, have a pair of k550's myself and they are amazing. also the cable is hard as nails, i run it over on my chair about times a day.
