I'd close crop peas and cut them as pea shoots for salads. Throwing in a row of radishes is ok on occasion, but remember they're a brassica so if you use them when intercropping then you're not crop rotating your brassicas and you could end up with club root.

We cover all brassicas on ours as we've lots of pigeon and magpie pals and they love them. We build frames for the netting and it stays on until harvest to protect from butterflies as well. I also cover onions after planting 300 out one year only to come back and find that birds had plucked them back out and they'd withered in the sun. Natures great innit.

I've trawled through the thread a fair old bit but can anyone recommend an artist oooop north, Manchester / Leeds / Liverpool way? Tattoo will be blackwork / woodcut style. Hit me up with some links if anyone springs to mind.

Mmm if they're the Spanish then you'll have to keep them in check as I've found they spread more rapidly than the native. Dig 'em out when their leaves are still in full flow though or you will never find the pesky little bulbs!

I had a 6x6 shed from them and the door was jimmied pretty easily by someone. They look a bit more secure due to the way they close though?
