Don’t know what frame you have, but I got an x-ride and just bought the equivalent size to my road bike and it’s perfect for me. You just have to go by the numbers I think rather than the generalised ‘size down’ mantra. I’ve found the same for TT bikes….

Yeah, there's a hill on the school run that she tends to lag on, not because she can't get up it, but partially because she couldn't be arsed to change gear and didn't like grip shift. Hence I changed it to trigger shifters.

One brake cable short of renovating a £50 second hand, beat up, red Specialized Hotrock for my daughter who had grown out of her previous bike. Not a perfect paint job, but considering the abuse this will get, probably good enough! Used Kustom Canz sparkle pearl purple to turquoise to coarse silver base, covered with 2k clear. Used a Posca pen for the encouragement on the top tube.

Even without that much traffic (other cyclists, pedestrians, and cars on left turns) CS2 stresses me out much more than it ever used to when you just shared the bus lane. Now you have a bunch of bus stop chicanes, bollards, curbs etc. Understand completely that recreational cyclists aren't necessarily the target users for the infrastructure though...
