Everyone who does bikes uses a footpedal to control the current.

I agree with all that fish says.

A lot of the corrections you have to make while tig welding happen quicker than it takes for yo uto consciously think about it. It needs to happen like second nature. The only way for that to happen is to spend a lot of hours behind the torch. Luckily tig is fun. :)

The only real way to get a feel for it is to continue to do it. only THEN should you get lessons. Get a stack of metal and build up something crap.

You've also got Armour custom cycles (based out of eastside bikes) in Edinburgh. They'll do wet paint in any crazy scheme you can dream up for pretty reasonable prices. Yeah, MT3 with a drawbar. The RF30 is a near perfect hobbyist framebuilder's mill, bar getting a reconditioned horizontal. The only crap thing about them is the crappy downfeed measurement, hence the caliper hack.

This one is an RF25, It's the most useful tool in the shop. I really like it. Just pimped it with that lasercut faceplate because I could.

Fixed a REALLY well used bianchi frame today.

Yeah, grinder is used to chop out the holesawed sections as obviously the holesaw will bottom out, so it's holesawed out in stages. :)

Set up once in the mill for both top and downtube, saw cut saw cut saw cut, done.

Not gonna lie, I think frame-mods are more interesting than full frame-builds and I wanna see what people have done. Show me something sacrilegious!

product differentiation bullshit or people designing stuff who don't know the tolerances which can be held during fabrication. (Blame the engineers)

I don't know of any framebuilders who are measuring the angles with any sort of accuracy to be able to hit those numbers. Your standard anglefinder reads to either 0.1 or 0.05 but in reality are only accurate to +-0.2 degrees.

I was riding this around with only one brake for aaaages. I've finaly got round to making the adapter to run a brake (on the sliding dropouts) on the front.

Edit: postage to dublin is crazy. fuck brexit. These need to be moved on, if anyone else is interested.

1) You don't wanna be tigging that crack. 753 is a Mang Moly tubeset meaning it will become brittle as f*ck in the haz with tig.

Get it fully replaced or it'll crack again.

2) maybe more photographs are needed, but that doesn't look like the crack has progagated through cyclic loading ... it isn't a big sharp sawtooth shaped crack. In this location a fatigue crack would be expected. It looks more like you have some corrosion issues.

I've said this before, but these wee offset nuts with wheels attached are really really awesome for adding wheels to build diy jigs without adjustment slop

I'm currently ironing out the kinks and will be looking to build some sale bikes shortly. I've got a website waiting to be built so for now following the insta is the best course of action.

This bike handles brilliantly. Still bits to do before it's finished.
