For me, i just think the Golf is the best all rounder, sure it's maybe bit bland and sensible, but the golf comes out as the car i'd actually want to daily. Plus they go like a cut cat especially with a remap.
I have almost bought spicy French cars on a few occasions, the last Peugeot we looked at had horrible noisy suspension which I knew would drive me mad on a daily basis. The prospect of maintaining those alcons on a road car would definitely put me off.
If the POS Subaru i'm running about has a major let go any time soon i'll be looking for a Mk6 GTI i think.

I have to do my headlights once a year, the UV amounts in NZ are really high and plastic headlights suffer terribly.
You can wet sand them with 1200 / 1500 / 2000 grit and then you'll need to cut them with a polishing compound. You can skip the polishing compound step if you later clear lacquer them to seal them instead

Always use the pizzle sticks with puppies as a distraction / focus treat. We stop using them once they have adult teeth because they just don't last very long beyond a certain point.
We get airdried venison shanks in multipacks and give her a fresh one if we ever leave her in the house for more than a couple of hours to keep her occupied.

As it's getting Autumnal here in NZ, and since daylight savings I have been dog walking before work in the dark with a head torch (and putting my cateye rear light on Phoebe's collar).
I still shit my pants in the woods in the dark at times, particularly when we get surprised by a possum on the tracks.
Also as we come back through the field on the way back to the car, we always seem to find a forgotten ball left there from the night before somehow.

I was about to say you could look at a Haier. They are basically now the more affordable F&P.
F&P removed a lot of their series 3 entry level products and superseded them with Haier after Haier group bought F&P a few years ago.
I have a Haier heat pump dryer and I’ve been really happy with it - although it was still quite spendy
