I have had r460 rims on order for a while still waiting.

Sachs new sucess was designed around 5mm Sprocket spacing for 7 or 8 speed(up to 1997) 1998 and after it was desined around 4.8mm sprocket spacing for 8 speed. 7 speed shimana has 5mm sprocket spacing which is whynit works for you.,post 1998 sach shifters works with shimano 8 speed cassettes.

Then how do you down sshift if it wont upshift. Does the shofter pull cable on each click when the cable is removed from the mech. If so it is not the shifter.

Hulsroy. I am going stop selling those novatec f482 hubs (they are not called x light) as i hardly sell any and nearly every time someone enquires about them i end up steeringbthem toward something else. They are race day hubs only and even then they sometimes suffer premature nds bearing failure. Even if the beairngs dont suffer premature failure thwy rarley last more then a few thousand miles before you have to change them. If you use them in the wet it can be alot sooner. Miche hubs give longer bearing life so do the heavier novatec a171 f172 or shimano hubs.

As for spoke weight i use 7.25g for a sapim race with brass nipple in 290mm length when estimating wheel weights.

There a few early disc cx bikes wwith 130mm old. It was obvious back then that standard was not going to last.

Kmc 510 is pretty good. DID are excellent but cost more.

Alan frames are not steel and should not be spread.

Miche hubs will save you 90g hulsroy and what is a novatec x light hub.

Challange strada bianca is a pretty robust tyre.

Kin lin xc31t is a good option.

There is a reason why the archetype is a popular rim. It is one of the best. Until something comes along hat is actually better i see no reason not to use it.

I have some 7 speed freehubs in stock for old shimano hhbs. Combine that with a axle 137mm long and you can convert to 126mm old. be careful with screw on hubs my alan will only take a 6 speed freewheel and then a compact one not a standard width one. Not sure if all alan frames are like that but mine is. It dates from 1980.

Yet to find a 36h rear fisc brake hub for 11 speed. The dt swiss tk540 is a fine touring and commutor rim. There is ha disc brake version too. Pricey though but worth it for loaded riding.
if you want cheap and robust get thd rigida sputnik. Heavy but its a tough rim But it has a brake track

I think 32h rim will be fine for you and a cheap dt swiss mtb rim like the 465d works just fine with 28mm tyres. That rim may have been renamed though.

All the different 9 10 11 speed spline patterns well there are two are interchangable when it comes to cassesettes. The later spline pattern is a bit lighter that is why it exists.

Novatec hub perhaps or a DT Swiss 350 will both take 11 speed. I have never seen the attraction of SP hubs they seem very draggy (notchy infact as the magnets rotate) over the shimano version.
SON hubs I think are worth the extra money.

3n1 oil is my lube of choice for spokes. If spoke loose tension it is because the tension i not high enough or the spokes have been bedded into the hjb or the niplples into the rim which you do by squeezing pairs of spokes. This may also stretch them a bit permenantly. So in short if you are finding your spokes are loosing tension your spoke stressing is not good enough or you have insuffient tension. Possibly both.

Sapim i am sure make spokes in mm increments but chickens dont buy there spokes that way. You can generally get 2mm increments to work. With sapim black spokes you have no choice.

There only 80 pounds new. Not sure it worth buying second hand.

As above really. Really like these stems but this length is not so easy to find.

Also the rotors need to be straight. move the fixed pad in so it just clears and thenadjust cable tension to get the moving pad to just clear. Tektro spyres are easier to set up.

Token do a cheaper version and they are just as long lasting. Measure your headtube id before you buy to ensure you are getting the correct kne. You must use a vernier not a ruler.

Vittoria mastik seems more sticky to me thqn the conti stuff.
