I use micycle in Stroud green and hop on a bus to get back to seven sisters/wood green road. There is a bmx instructor group based near the lordship rec and they sometimes do free servicing on a weekend by the park cafe but I haven't seen of they or an associated lbs do this on a permanent basis.

Hi. Mudguards arrived yesterday. Look like they should be ok but need to get some brake bolts so I can attach them to the frame. How did you make an extension as ill be running a front rack as well?

Pics from todays first ride proper along the Essex coast from Southminster to Burnham-on-Crouch. Went on road, lanes, gravel, grass. This bike can go anywhere!

Yep figured I'd have to make some diy flaps. Think there was a link from the practical bikes thread to some audaxers using various plastic bottles etc so will give that a go. Main thing I learnt today was the tyres mean I can't use my bagman. That was disappointing.

Got some tektro rl340 for the levers. Pics to follow!

@nev yep - been good fun so far. Had a guy stop me on the street yesterday and offer to buy the bike off me for a princely sum of £40. I politely declined.

Re: guards - I've found these which should fit http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b62s80p387 - 65mm width will be tight but give enough clearance for daily use.

Will post some pics now I've added the Midge bars and bar end shifters. New front rack in the post as well. Hoping for better weather tomorrow so I can head up to Epping Forest with the mtb tyres.

Recently picked up my surly ogre with salsa 29ers from @nev. Very happy with it but am going to be using for commuting as well as weekend/long jaunts. Can anyone recommed full length mudguards that would do the job?

Sold my normal commute bike so took the kingpin for a spin into work. Forgot what a great bike it is to ride. Cold enough for jeans and old t-shirt under a jacket. Sunny and blue skies. No rushing due to leaving on time. 10/10 won't happen again.
