Am planning on a CX bike on the company's cycle scheme, so has to be sub £1k
Caadx 105 seems the obvious choice, but I do like the look of the Norco Threshold. Similar build, and I like the orange/black finish.
Also considering the Planet X XLS 105 build now that it has dropped back below the magic £1000 mark.
Anything else now available that I should look at? -
I had a stronglight 2000 on mine, with a 107mm BB with no problems re clearance, and 165 cranks. I only changed to a shimano external BB and cranks to go to a smaller chainring size (it's very hilly here)
I'm running 32mm tyres on fairly narrow (from Varno) rims also no problems, and I ride on some pretty rough trails. If I do keep the pomp, I will be looking for a wheelset with wider rims though.

I tend to use the £1.99 service that delivers to a local corner shop. Get a text/email to tell me when it has arrived and I collect it at my leisure. They're open from 7 am to 11 pm.
Never had to wait more than 2 days, and only once were the haribos missing!Sod's law it'll go pear shaped next time I order something 😀
Not had to deal with customer service personally - on a couple of occasions I ordered the wrong size/fit and returned (again via said corner shop at no charge) with credit in a few days. -

Thanks for that - Checked the gospel according to Mr. Brown when it first happened, it reckoned it was borderline, but plays safe as you say.
Usually have to push a bit to get new tyres on to rims, these just fell over without any effort, hence I was worried the beads were stretched/ OD of tyre too large.
I have run tyres happily on a MTB which were supposedly too wide without any problems in the past.

Got a pair of new wired RRs 700 x 35c off eBay this morning. Fitted then to 19mm wide rims (SSCX bike) to replace a set of Maxxis 32mm tyres, and one of them has blown off a couple of times, exploding inner tube once.
Have replaced the tube with a new one (32-38mm) Continental, so no concerns there.Had a bit of trouble fitting them, as they seemed rather loose. One still doesn't seem to seat very well.
Never had an issue like this before.- Are the tyres too wide for the rims?
- Are the tyres damaged (stretched bead? They were folded rather tightly in the package) Tyre spec is 28/622 (definitely not 635 according to sidewall)
- The tyres were a good deal - hoping not too good a deal. Never heard of fake/faulty bike tyres, but you never know (seller has very good feedback)
- Will I die? So far not ridden, for obvious reasons
- Are the tyres too wide for the rims?

Just finished a pomp build, tested it out for the first time yesterday.
So far very pleased with it.
Biggest problem was trying to get the gearing correct. Started with 44x17 which was great on the flat, however it's a tad hilly 'round here, so have swapped to a larger 20t freewheel for now.
Had a stronglight track crankset, hence the large front ring (ideally would have bought a smaller setup for the front, and may change this in the future)
Varno built a set of wheels for me, and I have set it up for riding trails with a set of cross tyres.
Have ordered a few bits in the last few weeks, split between Chain Reaction and Wiggle.
As a comparison, CR take 2 days longer to receive, and their packaging is nuts.
I received some flat bars in a box 2'x 2' square, full of packing, not a very efficient way of transporting them.
No issues with either quality or communications though. For what I've needed, Wiggle generally has the edge, both on price and speed of delivery.
Oh, and my daughter wanted to know why wiggle parcels come with haribos, and theirs didn't.
