A bit of a thread derail this, but I am building a generic Chinese naked carbon road disc frame into a 650B mudguard n lights brevety thingy. An outfit called Custom Wheels in Wrocław will build a set of Novatec D411CB / 412CB straightpull hubs laced with Sapim Laser 2/1.5/2 spokes to DT Swiss XR 331 rims for 340 euros. Pawel told me in an email that postage to the rest of the EU would be 20 to 30 euros. The lowest prices for those parts sans build cost come to more than 300 euros with some pricematching. If there is a better deal around for this sort of cash I´d like to know about it. Can build myself too but would rather not as patience is not one of my virtues. Must be true wheels because Velogical.
Does anybody have any experience with ordering from Custom Wheels?

This. I´m clad head to toe in Quechua and French tourists keep starting conversations with me in French when we´re abroad or back in Finland.
Decathlon´s highest-priced rambling trousers, Forclaz 900 I think they´re called, are bomb-proof. Just retired a pair because of a broken zip after a decade of daily use.

In the Netherlands they recently had a BBQ/smoker (very similar to a Green Egg) called The Black Bastard.
They've renamed it now to "The Bastard" but frankly the fact anyone ever thought it was OK to call it that in the first place says much about the challenges of the Netherlands.
Don´t forget Zwarte Piet: https://vimeo.com/243014355
I know somebody who owns a Black Bastard.

Luyendijk and Bekhoven (our woman in London) having a good laugh over the blitz spirit myth. Grim: "Ik wil eens zien hoe ze reageren wanneer de insuline in de ziekenhuizen op is." (Luyendijk)
Also, Luyendijk appears to relish the prospect of a humbled Britain wanting to rejoin what will be a closer union: "Ze zullen snel ontdekken hoe weinig ze voorstellen en dan kunnen ze alsnog terugkeren, maar intussen zullen wij naarstig gebouwd hebben."

I have no idea how you can read that and have that opinion. It certainly didn't read as though he was beatifying the Netherlands to me anyway.
No. I´ve lived a short ride away from the Dutchies for a decade now and have yet to meet one who doesn´t like a bit of a moan about his homeland despite the fact things are pretty fucking good up there. They´re up there with the Nordics when it comes to quality of life.

If you´re willing to rebuild your wheel (assuming 32-hole but Benner do have 36-hole hubs as well) you could get these bits for about 70 quid delivered:

Indeed. Perhaps this is a wee bit off-topic, but at least it mounts under or above an IQ-X (E): https://www.bike24.de/p1246833.html?q=hupe
Mine´s going to be hooked up to a Forumslader (nominal 12v DC), but B&M specify from 6V so perhaps this would work simply with a cheap rectifier. Folks more familiar with the behavioural patterns of angry pixies could perhaps step in and clarify.

There´s also the Spanninga Axendo, victor of last year´s Fietserbond headlight test in the bang for buck category. It´s a descendant of the Philips Saferide. The main difference is that the former has a smaller case than the latter does. Both are made of chunky cast aluminium though. I´ve been very pleased with the Saferide for many years and the Axendo seems equally well put together.

Let me know if you need help with the Dutch.

CX-Rays bags of 20 in silver for 36 euros plus 7 euros postage: https://www.derks-wielersport.nl/spaken/sapim-spaken-cx-ray-zilver-20stuks-incl-nippels.html
The online order form didn´t work for me so went up there on Friday during my usual Scheldt run. Derk told me he could order any even length from the factory down the road in Wilrijk.

"12V Lichtausgang für E-Bike Gleichspannungsscheinwerfer" (http://www.forumslader.de/automatiklader/)
Wie bitte? Does this mean one can simply wire up an IQ-X E to this thing and get 150 lux at 25kph from a 6v/3w-rated generator?
Any experiences of the Forumslader replacement control board for the IQ-X (AC version) would also be appreciated.

I seem to have settled on 32h front, 36h back as I´m a chunky fucker (for now), Archetypes front and back and DH-3N80 cuz wider and taller body and cup and cone . Those Schmidt hubs sure are purty though. Feck. Thanks Skinny.
I´m a bit confused about the E3 Pro 2. People on here sing its praises but ze Germans say it´s not as good as the latest straßenzugelassen lights or at least not worth the premium. Can anybody compare and contrast the round-beam Supernova against the IQ-X and/or the Edelux II?
Anybody have a D1 for sale?

Is there such a thing as a Brandt-approved jacket in this day and age?
https://yarchive.net/bike/bike_jackets.html
In essence:
- Plain plastic
- Hood
- Tight cut
- No vents
- Plain plastic

Thanks for the advice. I think I´ll try the Secula as it comes with a reflector and capacitor.
Yes Hippy of course anything can be mounted to a seatstay but I´m going for a slightly more refined look than Philips/Spanninga Lumiring/Elips rack-mount lights (big fan) mounted with Ikea shelf brackets or bent Brompton reflector brackets as in the rest of the fleet.

What are those rims?
