Thanks all, still smiling. On to the first of the flattish main road courses next week, then my first open TT, I think that may be a bit of a reality check.
Bike feels great, I think I could stretch out a little longer, but we'll see on the fast tracks where I don't get to shuffle about or stand up.
A non-cycling friend saw that pic and asked if I was on my way to fight crime. :)

Used the DF3 in anger for the first time, hilly 11 miler, 85GI. Went great, got up the climbs without going into the red and had plenty left to push on the flat at a nice 110rpm. Lost a lot on the longish descent with a couple of poorly sighted turns at the end of the course, got caught by the guy behind at the bottom but dropped him as the road turned upward to the hilltop finish. Fifth overall, 27.42, absolutely buzzing, needed whisky and codeine to sleep.

^ They're about as good as it geets AFAIK for prosumer bean to cup. They can produce good coffee if kept clean and the grind and dose are well adjusted but someone will need to take responsibility for these jobs. The milk will never be great.
I always recommend a Technivorm Moccamaster for multi user self serve coffee, the coffee is so much nicer from them. Hands-up the company I work for sells them, but they got them in because I kept going on about how great they are.

Time trialling is effing ace. Did half a season last year, broke my collar bone, got fat, didn't want to ride bikes any more, got over myself, trained a bit then entered my club's hilly 11 road bike only season opener today on my road fixed. Came 5th, had a good laugh and gave myself a huge bagful of motivation. Love it.

I edited that pic in photo bucket, linked to it, then the original came up which shows a lever espresso machine in the garage window. Not sure about the VW bit, but could be something as I do own a bay window.
Anyhow, that first post wasn't meant to be so weight-focused, need to do some mileage before I can comment on the position etc. Best thing so far is the tubs not parting company with the rims after my first glue job, and going bloody fast up hill with the cadence of a church clock.

Just taken this for the first spin, too slippery on the roads to relax into finding any sort of position on it but it feels real sprightly. Came in at 7.9kg with pleny of options for reducing mass later on. The weight of the bike, coincidently, is the same that I need to lose to get to my fighting weight for the season.
Did my first few TTs last year but the season was cut short by a broken collarbone, I achieved a PB of 23.17 on a dual carriageway on this terrifying machine. The position on the Dolan is far more confident but definitely not as low, and the very high BB is noticeably sketchy in the turns.
Looking forward getting some miles done on this ready for the first club 10 in March

Just put this together for the flatter club 10s this year. Got a good deal on the DF3 without wheels, it came fitted with a Miche Primato crank but had a swap around with the Omnium from my other bike, Wheels from FarSport, Columbus Tusk so I can put a brake on it and 25mm Michelin Pro4 tubs - they look massive on the 23mm rims. Needs a bit of buttoning up and position finding.
Eat your greens, put your feet up the night before.
