No I wouldn’t be worrying about it then if you can see daylight through all the holes.

Oh and the back flushing thing - that’s detergent not acid - you’re cleaning the coffee oils from the exhaust pipe work, not dissolving calcium. If you don’t have PulyCaff then a crushed up dishwasher tablet is exactly the same thing. Only use half a teaspoon at the most though.

Woohoo getting there! That’s either uneven extraction or blocked holes in the basket. Could be bunged up with coffee grot or just worn out. I would replace it if it persists, preferably with an IMS or similar.

This is well nice. I drink bourbon all the time - Buffalo Trace, about 1 bottle a month. Gave this a try on holiday in Southwold and it’s delicious. Not the big caramel body of Bourbon but very smooth and balanced, no smoke, just as I like it.

They’re so easy too, worth it I reckon.

Did a shredded lamb leg, homemade pittas, salsa verde and tzatziki. I ran out of time / patience to get the meat to the 90deg + internal temp, I started a bit late, so it was more chopped than shredded but it was a great dinner in the end.

Yes, there’s not much that doesn’t improve for cooling down and settling a bit straight after cooking.

That was 60% Caputo Nuvola / 40% Semola, 4g yeast, 7 hrs bulk, 2.5hrs balled.

Not sure if rude or dim but yes, if you want decaf that tastes like Starbucks which is characteristically heavily roasty tasting, a lot of decent roasters’ decaf has a bit of that about it.

A lot of decaf is roasted pretty dark because it’s very vinegary at light levels, certainly Swiss Water process decaf anyway, so you’re in luck given that slightly unappealing brief. It still probably won’t taste as roasty as Starbucks though.

Almost certainly heating element. Check for resistance across each of the coils with the power off. Infinite resistance means it’s knackered.

I’m a big fan of JGC, I’ve met Peter James once or twice. They’ve been in the speciality coffee business since long before it really took off, they’re probably just not into the light and bright and have always done well with balanced smooth coffees, I think it’s just their thing. It’s my preference too tbh but I do enjoy the juicy ones on occasion and wouldn’t be without them in the range.
