Got hit by a bloody car 200 metres from home after an incident free 50km ride. My first ride of the new year. Not sure how much damage to the bike yet. Front wheel is definitely toast. the tri bars are bent and there's a big scrape down the right hand fork, so I have to hope the frame is still straight. Driver came out of a side road without stopping and hit me side on. I'm bruised but ok, but so pissed off. Then got into an argument with the driver and his passenger, none of us wearing masks. I can only hope I don't get COVID as well..

I've got a pair with clip on aero bars fitted.
To be honest, I don;t think they're worth it.
They feel stiffer than the FSA Omega Compact that I replaced. Stiffer as in less vertically compliant, so a bit less comfortable.
They're also much wider than advertised. I wanted to try narrower bars, so order 42cm width and they are an identical width at the controls as the 46cm FSA bars.
The flat section is also tricky to get the control cables settled into (Campagnolo), so overall, not really impressed. The "flair" is only very slightly noticeable as well.
I'm more tempted to try something like the Alpkit Spitfire next time around. -

For those of you wanting to combine your dynamo fetish with a willingness to travel to coastal locations, there is this group that I've belonged to for something like 15 years: https://www.fnrttc.org.uk/
Lovely, lovely people and super well-organised rides.

No, I'd need to plan ahead as well. In particular I'd like to test a new loop section.
As a thought, where would you rather start? We could meet in Greenwich and ride along the Waterlink Way and pick up the route from there, or could meet at Norbury station (saves about 90 minutes riding). From Norbury its about 40 minutes to the first bit of off-road.
Norbury is accessible from London Bridge, Victoria and Clapham Junction. -

I've got a father approaching 80 in the middle of the Welsh Marches/Shropshire borders who was in the pub last Thursday. My brother (who lives in Scotland) and I both let him know exactly what we thought of that. He's now staying home and the village he lives in have set up volunteers to go out and shop for the elderly, so I'm a lot happier about him.
My mum lives on the far side of London, on her own and near her housebound brother. She's been doing his shopping, which is maddening, as his son, who normally lives nearby is in his holiday flat elsewhere.
I've never felt so helpless and isolated from the ones I love.
Even having my own family close by doesn't stop me from having occasional panic attacks about the whole thing. -

I wasn't planning on riding anything until the weather improves. I guess I'd be waiting for spring anyway.
I guess I'm usually fine for 60-90km rides from a central point, so 30-50km loops are OK.Thanks for the link. I've done a route last year linking the Downs Link via approximately the route you suggested. Unfortunately I tried it on the hottest day of the year and ended up overheating so badly I was forced to bail on the way home!
I really enjoy these mixed trail rides.
