Was wondering about additional pre-amp stages in front of the duet and home that might work in terms of gain staging and potential additional noise? My buddy was using the LA 6A in front of a duet as his duet and getting some great natural and squashy guitar and vocal sounds.... but if the pre-amps in the duet are as good they claim, is it worth postponing outboard channel strip hardware in favour of moar mic goodness?

My "none more black" (black warp and weft) gustins finally arrived (at the post office needing an £8 customs charge to be released). Only been three months since ordering. Three months in which I've had the previous pair taken up three separate times and become convinced that I've ordered the wrong cut for the new arrivals.
By the time I've taken up the 35" waist regular fit for my stumpy 32" pins they look practically square. This is party cos i'm short and fat (34-5" waist and 32" instep) but , mainly a side effect of all gustins coming is one (stilt-like) instep size fits all. By the time they've been altered to fit short legs the hem is roughly where the knee was on the original cut. the result is a pair of jeams that make me look like depression-era hobo.
Anyone want to make an offer on the unadulterated 35"x infinity blackies? Will post pics when I pick up tomorrow.
Despite all the long wait (no biggie if you're in mad rush, which i'm not) i may still order another pair in the slim fit. The stitching and style is bang on and the fabric quality is undeniable.
pics tomorrow. shout if you wants.

^^^^Cheers tibbly. both of those sound right up my street.
Fibished the Goldfinch recently. Started so strongly then fell of a cliff about 2/3 of the way though. Huge disappointment.
Currently reading H is for Hawk by helen Macdonald which I'm really enjoying. Darkly twisted and very personal nature memoir. More about grief and obsession than nature really. Dig.
Also dipping in and out of of a bio of Thomas Cromwell and the rather dated Songwriters on Songwriting (a collection of interviews based firmly in the late 80s).

Holy sheet. I finally did it. Just dropped more than the cost of my last car on a mic and an interface.

You knows it. Didn't attempt the twiddly-twiddly-twiddly-twiddly banjo rolled flourishes in the intro and outtro as I only really nail about one time in four. By the time I'd got to last verse without having banged a finger pick on the body or got any words wrong I thought; let's not tempt fate.
