Ta. I'll probably hang on to it for completeness. I bought it new in 2000 so there's an element of nostalgia attached. Plus once i've sorted the frets i was thinking about using it to built an Esquire. Maybe.
Ordered some "no line" Klusons yesterday and they turned up this morning. Annoyingly though the supplied bushings are the wrong size and I can't fit the tuner shaft in the hole (titter ye not etc). Not sure how that happened as they were packaged up in a sealed bag in the original box. Weird. Anyway. Will have to wait a bit longer to get it operational.

I know right?! He paid 2k Eu for it. '63, all original parts, original finish and original case with original shop invoice. I was surprised that it seemed pretty affordable and way cheaper than stuff goes for on reverb here. I wasn't sure if that is a UK/Germany thing but actually I think it's more the face-to-face "good customer" thing. There's a '68 CBS era one on reverb right now for £3k. Considering his is pre-CBS... just goes to show if you're in the market for this stuff, it's worth building a relationship with a proper delaer. Sadly I don't have the disposable income (or tax-deductable situation) to be regularly shoping for vintage gear in person so that's not really an option.
Still - I get to live vicariously and play and record with this stuff for FREE so I definitely not complianing.
Am just swapping the neck over on my Tele. Gonna get it set-up and twangin' this evening.

Amazing work all.
I've basically achieved my goal which was get under 14 stone. Am currently just about there after hovering annoying on the cusp for weeeeeks. Having got there, my current pattern tends to be get within striking of the goal distance by Friday, then take my foot off the gas and celebrate by reverting to treating myself at the weekend (I don't go mad - just relax the regime a bit). Then I don't weigh myself for a couple of days whilst exercising strict observation. I'll weigh myself on Weds and find that I'm back where I was by the end of the previous week... Hooray! I then either repeat the pattern or put in a couple more strict days and shed another few hundred grams.
Currently 13/13 or ~88.5kg down from almost 100kg in August. Still really enjoying clothes fitting and looking and feeling so much better.
I do think I need a new goal, and to start working on getting some muscle back. I think 85kg with some improved fitness and muscle definition by Easter should be eminently achievable. Even allowing for The Porkening that inevitably blights/brightens December.

Have bought a levelling beam, notched straight edge, rolls of 320 and 400 grit, a neck rest and load of masking tape. I already have fret crowning files and triangle files plus a dremmel for polishing polishing polishing. Remembered I have two junk necks I can sacrifice as practice as well. Wish me luck!
