Happily watching the water ripples whilst on the move. Last night we moored at a glorious spot & bumped into some people who know the previous owners of our boat. Their dog got onboard looking for his dog friend, instead he got cornered by Lula Balula!
She loved that spot & had a good wander once the dog disappeared. She doesn't like our current spot at all & is trying to cool down by lying down on the boats floor. I might have to join her, it's a scorcher! -

Lula Balula has settled into boat life, enjoying her freedom & exploring other peoples boats. We have taken a vent off one of the doors so she can come & go as she pleases. This usually means her sitting in the porch area, bathing in the warmth.
She has become VERY territorial. Yesterday she beat up a dog that came to close to HER boat. Fortunately the dogs owner was accepting of this beating as he said his dog needed to learn, didn't even mind when she drew blood. Lula slept peacefully most of the night, other than what seemed to be her meowing in her sleep at a dog.

Lula balula has been enjoying boat life & has even ventured outdoors to have a nosy. She has had a tough time, she has been sick so often & we have this mostly under control, although it seems to be starting up again. After some super expensive tests (thank goodness for insurance) it turns out she has a sort of IBS & a sensitive stomach along with not being able to absorb B12. She has also become a lot nicer to us, most of the time when she isn't being a diva. Yesterday we even managed to give her front paw claws a trim! There was still the growling & fighting but we are getting there.

@Doctor_Cake I've been told its still a good idea to treat indoors cats as we can bring fleas in from the outside. I'd rather use preventative treatment for my cat for fleas than end up plagued by the damn things.
Catface was fine when it came to trimming his claws, he became resigned to the fact that it happened. Lula on the other hand is a no go zone, we have even tried doing it stealthily whilst she has been asleep. Think I'll ask the vet to do it Friday when we take her to the vets for her constant vomiting up of food.

Has anyone ever tiled over stainless steel? I've been told its not a good idea & I am going to remove the large piece behind the fireplace so I can stick tiles to the fire board (don't want them falling off if we hit things whilst boating).
There are small sections of stainless steel behind the kitchen & bathroom sinks that ideally I'd just leave. I did read that you can add some latex additive to some tile adhesive to make it more flexible & increase the adhesiveness, but has anyone ever tried it?

Myself & Lula Balula have moved home into a narrowboat. The poor beast suffers terribly from anxiety & is sick whenever she senses change or gets in the car. I worried about her coping with being on a boat but she has settled in amazingly. She seems quite content. Fingers crossed we continue this way.

I was honest with my landlord, he just requested that I pay an additional deposit to cover any damage that the cat may cause although he is a reasonable person, unlike some landlords.
Maybe it is worth getting something in writing from your current landlord to say that you are trustworthy and that the cats caused no problems and offer to pay an additional deposit with the new landlord. This all depends on how reasonable and understanding they are though. Personally I wouldn't want to risk not telling them. -

Lula, who was quite bitey when we got her is now settling down. From what I researched a stern 'no!' Along with pointing or a clap of hands & then walking away giving no affection for 5-10 minutes, makes them realise that their behaviour isn't going to get them what they want. We've now got to the point where if Lula does bite, she knows she's done wrong so stops herself going too far.
Should be easier to train out of a kitten. There is quite a lot of advice if you Google 'how to stop my cat biting', including how to stop them clawing & biting you when they play. Good luck, & thank you for the fostering, it's a good thing you're doing. -

She is 9, so not exactly a spring chicken. She is a rescue that had previously been abandoned by her owners and had been living as a stray for about 3 years. We play with her until she becomes bored, which doesn't take long, and there are toys around the flat for her to play with during the day. She cant go out as she has a virus that can spread to other cats so we allow her in every room of the flat.

So Lula (also becoming known as Gremlin) has been with us for nearly two weeks & myself & my partner have both admitted that we are becoming wary of her. She seems to want head scratches, but then without warning, she'll bite you or scratch you. I've been reading about animal behavior & read that you should watch for warning signs but there aren't any. We are following the stern 'no' & finger point followed by ignoring without affection for 5-10 minutes. She is starting to realise that she has done a bad when we do this. The hardest thing is she seems to want to be around you, sitting next to you on the sofa, she'll sit by your feet & sleep on your pillow, but one accidental movement that she doesn't like & that's it!
Has anyone got any advice as to how we can help her stop this? Along with the 'no' treatment we are playing with her as much as we can. I'm just afraid we have a stubborn, headstrong, used to getting her own way cat.
Our little Lula Balula has developed a lump in her mouth. This all brings back memories of Catface who had an aggressive tumor. Lula seems chirpy at the moment so we aren't rushing her to the vets (who I have spoken to on the phone) & she is eating. Car trips stress her out so if we can we are avoiding upsetting her too much. We are however going to get her checked out on Saturday when we have the time to spend with her before & after the appointment. I'm super worried as her mouth is the one area insurance wont cover & I know I wont be able to afford any treatment, plus she is getting on a bit with two different ongoing long term illnesses.
I'm absolutely thinking the worst right now, but I know that I have given the initially hard to love cat a good two years. The last year on the boat seems to have mellowed her out further & she has become a true boat cat. I guess we will see what Saturday brings.
