Novatec double fixed hubs, H Plus Son Archetype rims, sapim race spokes, 36h, all silver.
Got these left over and need shifting, built them mainly to take pictures for my wheelbuilding business website. Never been fitted or used. come with wheel nuts and lock ring.
Pretty sure price is good, so don't think I'll be taking offers at this point.
now £170 + postage
Will add pics now...

Has anyone tried touring using just a european road map with pages you might need torn out. Or is there some sort of cycling specific version of this available?
I will be doing some touring but without specific destinations, I quite like the idea of just pootling along and stopping for lunch to look at the map and see what looks nice etc, maybe google a few things nearby.
Part of me just wants to follow a compass and my nose, with a map as back up. But I don't really want to end up on shitty roads regularly or cursing my romanticism when I end up in shitty places...
I haven't used a garmin before, mainly used my phone with google maps etc in the past in the uk when riding or touring, and would have this as a backup.

I did indeed. I had the idea like I always do of building it slowly over the next few months, but excitement got the better of me and I have ordered pretty much everything I didn't have yet and will hopefully have it built in a week or two.
Reckon it'll be a very handy bike and full build should be about £500 or so I think so cheap too.

You would probably be ok leaving them up here, its not the main classifieds after all.
Looking for a few pieces guys:
9spd shimano mtb rear mech, or long cage road mech.
Large volume 700c tyres, 35-45c for touring, maybe pasela, marathon supreme (not normal marathons please), Randoneur Pro
Front rack that I can attach to low rider mounts, big enough to take a tent and a few other bits. -

So thanks to @root I am picking up a Salsa Vaya frameset for £150 this afternoon.
Looking at choosing wheels now. I have bought a cheapish dynamo front hub from Rosebikes, thinking just a deore or deore xt rear hub, rims are what I am after advice about. Thinking Pacenti tl28 maybe as they are light enough but probably strong enough in 36h flavour and £30 each at PX. However they also have the DL31 at £20 each, bit heavier and maybe 26mm internal width is a bit much for my (initially when road touring) 35m tyres?
Also with tyres, I was looking at Rando Pro's, had good experiences with normal randos, but the pros are folding so a bit lighter and 120tpi so maybe a bit more supple, £18 each. Anything else I should be looking at in that price range?
Cheers!

I just can't get on board with weight not mattering at all. Why would people be careful not to pack too much and go minimalist if it doesn't. It's difficult to put enough stress on the fact that I am always compromising, and weight is 3rd in the list after price and functionality, if I am choosing between similarly priced similarly functional bikes and one is much lighter then I will choose that one.
The main thing I have against bikepacking stuff is I don't own it yet, whereas I do own decent ortlieb panniers, which have been completely flawless for me. I see no reason to change them for anything when that means further expense, and from what I can see a bit more faff. Also they mostly seem to use velcro, which is a rip-off.

I couldn't find a listed weight either, but I would guess frame and fork might be as much as 800g lighter based on the material, I could easily be wrong. 800g is and isn't a lot, if the functionality and price is much the same then it is quite a lot to me. I've cut weight off all my camping gear and climbing gear over the years and in the end the little savings make a big difference, in those terms 800g is huge. But as mentioned before price and functionality come first.

I think for uk weekend off-road adventures then bikepacking style would be great, I am not convinced that for mainly road, long distance stuff my ortliebs on a rack would be bettered for space and convenience. Plus I have some nice panniers already and the bike packing stuff seems quite expensive for what it is.

Hello functional experts. I am looking at building myself an adventure type bike, one I can use off-road for weekend excursions in the Peak and Scotland, but also for some mostly road, long distance touring of several months in europe. Key requirement is to be cheap and solid really, was thinking maybe an Inbred 29er and getting a fork with rack mounts from surly or somewhere, drawbacks being a new inbred is not THAT cheap for what it is, and with surly fork it would weigh a metric ton.
Another option is a possibly quite cheap second hand Genesis fortitude adventure frameset. Looks nice and 725 tubes should cut the weight slightly. the main thing I am worried about is the 69.5 head angle, when loaded on the front (probably lowrider with panniers) would it have horrible handling and I'd be totally unable to ever take my hands of the bars etc? Also I would need to get an alfine 11 for it or something but I am quite excited by that idea.
I don't really have a budget, more looking for value for what I do spend, usually I am pretty keen to buy second hand, and would prefer frame or frameset only as I have a big parts bin. What else should I be looking at?

If the forks are still available I'll take them as per @ginllfixit 's post above. Will message now.
