First foray into baking.
Bread Ahead my previous absolute favourites, figured their recipe was the one to pursue. Conclusions:
a) Very satisfying experience; will mince again
b) 2 minutes** in the air fryer and suddenly 4 mincers for breakfast before the mid morning mincer with coffee seems entirely acceptable especially as they are free*
c) Mrs LIL would prefer a heavier citrus presence
d) the bread ahead recipe is too heavy on the ol' suet; it's best warm but does weather a longer bake for a more delightful pastry. Next batch will be 50% of the suet recommended to test...*oh jesus that's a lot of pure fat this isn't a free mince pie this is going to correlate directly with a coronary but my god what a way to go maybe I should have another just to make sure I make it up the stairs ok to my home office
** 2 mins @ 180 the sweet spot so far

having a brompton bag crisis.
having finally caught up with the real world and the delights of front mounted cargo on my commuter... the brompton needs the same treatment.
Do I put my wizard works on an adapter frame? do I go restrap? Should I go full-kit-wanker on my showroom standard brompton with a brompton bag? roll top large or large basket bag? full custom something or other from somebody with needle and thread skills?
...any one selling anything?

I am somewhat in agreement with the 'it's not specific breeds' statement, but perhaps not from the angle most pro-doggo-he's just being friendly-lobbyist might have meant it: dogs have teeth and toddler temperament, all dogs should on some level be considered dangerous; and stay on the lead. Except perhaps in places where it is appropriate for them to run free - the owners back garden and designated dog parks.
Why do I have to spend every walk in a park or on a beach swivelled eyed for the next furry dickhead way off the lead, a million miles further than their kagoul wearing owner could ever run, looking to investigate small children?*
Small irritants though toddlers may be, they do not have sharp teeth, are not fast, do not roam very far, have no means of defence against a small dog let alone a large dog, and typically don't bark ferociously when you pass by their table en route to place an order for an ice cream.
Only to then step in your furry fucks shit as I aim to head home.
*This includes: beaches, parks, coffee shops, Ice cream shops, Children's play parks, most streets, holiday rental cabin porch in Scotland, every picnic not on national trust property and at least 3 different mountain paths (Data sample: one Dad, 2 Toddlers, 5 weeks of UK summer when not at nursery)

Hey All - two used items that no longer fit. Free to whichever lucky winner fancies them:
North Face Hiking trousers - worn to climb.
Bobbling, and repaired rear pockets. Added elasticated cuffs at the hem. Size 32, but fits small - these are too tight for me now, and I'm an actual 32".North Face Cycling Jacket - windproof.
Decent windproof that I've not worn in an age - commutes have changed. Works well over t-shirt too for early morning bimble or as a trail jacket. Size MM.Tue/Wed/Thu next week is my last working week in Soho. Collection around the Carnaby corner preferred.
Price: Free: Forum donation + Ale also acceptable peace offerings, but not mandatory. -
Gshock - got a second hand jobby that’s either not survived the post (unlikely given packaging) or needs a new battery…
Can’t seem to find anywhere I can just drop it in for assessment, only post to Casio or other postage options.
Any one had any experience with a simple battery swap and reseal in central?

A colleague has just arrived with an entire suitcase of "the best bread you'll ever eat" - so this is an emergency:
Does anyone in Soho have a breadknife on them today?
Failing that, does anyone know where I can get one of the Opinel breadknives in Soho today?I've long fancied one, and this feels like the right time.

Unfortunate season opener - toddler handed me a half chewed pie his Aunty had given him that he had decided he didn’t want.
I’m not sure I’m ready for him to reject mince pies. It was only a year ago we caught him stealing and eating them behind a curtain… such innocent times.
Didn’t want to waste the half chewed one though. It wasn’t great, so maybe there’s hope the wee bairns just discerning.
having had a few years with a slightly more considered tax form completions I don't think I have the mental capacity this year to face down reality - any good recommendations for tax accountants for what is a very simple tax return filing (if you're not me)?
