I've cheerfully avoided any sort of puncture for years by cheerfully just not really riding a bike - but I assume tubeless has had some influence on the matter.
tiny little knick that resealed while out the other day, seemed fine, re-inflated, was a flat jizz puddle the next day, so crammed in an anchovy and headed out...
I am now a strong convert to amateur shaved legs: the Stans Sealant Wax Job is not the look I wanted as we head into short season. And my word was it an explosive jizz fest when the anchovy decided freedom had a nice ring to it...
It resealed fine after about 3km of projectile goo, and required almost zero break in my ride aside from an industrial hose down so in terms of pfaff it probably worked out slightly in favour of tubuless over inners. Will watch some anchovy videos though. And test some different goos.

On the kid + renovation: we ended up moving to my parents for three months with a 4 month old, after overlapping renting and new house ownership for 3 months.
We worked with trades to get the biggest parts (electrics, plumbing, kitchen and bathroom, most of the skimming) then aimed to do finishing like floors and decorating ourselves to save a few Bob - 2.5y down the line we’re still on it. Small babies make it a bit trickier (probably shouldn’t fill their lungs with dust eh?) and toddlers have a habit of escaping with your chisel/paint brush/drill…
We also did the “quote today, work in 12 months” for some outside work last year and material costs increases really kicked hard on the final bill!
So: all very doable, but factor in that a baby adds a challenge and the current universe makes the finances less predictable - if that feels ok, get some quotes in with a set time in the diary for work to start and don’t be surprised if that becomes a moving target. That’s my two cents!

Is the conclusion then, that one day I'll be safe to pursue my childhood dream of Maguras?
And what's your availability for mentorship in the SE / BR area?(I still have a vivid memory of my mate Christian who at age 9 had a set on his new Checker Pig - this thread was starting to cloud an otherwise happy childhood)

You can easily be as in control as when you're on skis. And realistically pose an equal risk to others on the hill.
The issue in my experience is as already mentioned - a lot of folk over estimate their ability (on both types), a lot of folk are not familiar with the other sport (your movement about the mountain is very different on skis to a snowboard) and the snow conditions: if it's ice and you're on a board you need to rethink life a little.
I've probably been taken out by even numbers of both clans, but have a definite bias against whatever the opposite is to what I'm on that day. And I'm sure we can all agree Big Foots and Ski Bikes are the real problem ;)

True soap opera our ends, with the king of bin night on our cul de sac dethroned in an astonishing misstep on the neighbours WhatsApp.
An erroneous reminder to put out the bottles and cans last night was swiftly corrected by Mrs Two-Doors-Down referencing the council website, and them at number 7 joining the fray with a sarcastic comment to draw attention to an easily made error at this confusing time of year.
Despite all of this, a few stoic souls still put their bottle bins out this morning in a showing of solidarity for the King - remains to be seen how this plays out in the coming weeks. Hopefully the king's bottle recycling won't be too much heavier as he works through this with his family...

I had this running, and switching to barefoot did help - but mostly by forcing me to change my running technique to something more much more stable. So I'd guess it's unlikely to be a quick fix.
Not necessarily a solution, but loosely related: in the summer I switched from my boots to approach shoes in the cuillins and have only worn boots when it's weather driven since - the lighter load and free-er movement has made long days much much easier.

Joining the theme - becoming a Dad, lost commutes and not moving around an office and home snack accessibility have conspired to no weight change but quite a physical change.
Dropping beers, snacks and adding in one basic body weight strength workout per day for starters - let’s see if I can maintain for a month.
Remarkable how low the bar is in general: my vitality point targets are easy to hit despite essentially being a sedentary lump.
Pair of Neji Saurus’ have helped me out in the past.
