Got a 1981 AB on it's way to me shortly!
I'll probably build up with modern 10 speed 105 for the winter (it's the only full group I've got sitting about), but not too sure which vintage group to go for? It'll be ridden regularly so durability/parts availability important. I'm thinking Nuovo, DA or possibly Arabesque?

The entrance to the Sports Centre is almost opposite Cadence at the top of Anerley Hill. I'm not sure if you can get into the park from lower down on Anerley Hill though? The only way I've gone is from the Sydenham side. Anyway, there aren't any serious climbs in the park. The bit where they do the crit racing is fun to go around too!

^^^ Iron Heart chewed me up and spit me out, I'm sure they'll pass muster in the durability department - very good QC too, at least on the pair that I had and sold.
I had the 634.I've got the 634. They kind of break you in, not the other way round. But after a while they really soften up nicely. I used to wear them and a Horsehide jacket on my motorbike, it felt like a suit of armour.

Well, 21oz is pretty tough and they're very well put together. I tend to actually wash my jeans (after a year or so!) and they seem to be holding up fine. I think they're worth it, but if you're spending big on just one nice pair of Japanese jeans I'd go for some Samurais, they're very nice: http://www.samurai-j.com/jeans_collection/index.html

I have a pair of never worn Joe McCoy 906 34W 36L that don't fit me and I can't return. They are awesome, I know very little about jeans, I have just done some googling and apparently they retail for £260....(!) if anyone is interested for £150 ono I will post photos, they are awesome but too small for me.
Quality jeans. Too big for me, but Joe McCoys are lovely.
I'm new on LFGSS but I must be in the right place - love my bikes and denim - can't have too many of either!Favourites: Samurai S5000, Iron Heart 21oz and Studio d'Artisan SD001. Lovely denim and sick fadez as they say. Also got a bit of a weakness for leather jackets too. It's a slippery slope...

I've had all sorts over the years, but you won't wear them unless they fit properly. So try on first. Different chamois suit different people too, so don't assume a massive thick pad is going to be more comfortable. Bit like saddles really.
My favourite at the moment is also my cheapest:

It's a bit out in the sticks, but I've just found a new local bike shop in Coney Hall (near Bromley, Kent) that seems decent. Lots of nice random bits and bobs, old Campag Record etc. The owner was a nice bloke and knew his stuff.

Interested in the FD and shifters. I take it nothing missing and all working well? Buy one get one free, yeah? Lol
