for the slotted nipple: do you want your spoke sitting on the bottom of the "nipple flange" or you want the spoke all the way to the top where the threads end?

thanks for the answer, I had assume bottom of the slot gets the most benefit - I would guess above that there is no benefit.

as long as its a normal nipple seat at the rim you can get away with not calculating extra clearance
