Just to throw a spanner in the works I managed to get a good run on an awol today.
Geo felt very very odd initially, stack is massive, slightly twitchy at very slow speed till I got used to the short stem. Spyres felt crap.
After a few miles really enjoyed trundling over everything in my path
Decisions, decisions

Test road a disc trucker yesterday.
Really liked it. Was far more sprightly than I expected it to be for such a beast of a bike.
Looks like I'm going to get BC to build one up but I'm back the the age old question of 26 or 700c?
I was on the 26 wheeled version yesterday which looks more than a bit odd but in a frankenbike kind of way.
Reckon the ability to run 2inch tyres and guards would be worth it though.
Any thoughts?

Didn't spot this earlier.
Sorry to hear your suffering. I'm afraid I had about 8 weeks of severe pain. Only really reduced when the physio started. Sleeping was the worst, slept with a hard pillow hooked under my armpit for support.
Have they given you a time frame for getting started with the physio?

I need some help please!
Currently commuting on a 56cm 2014 Day one disc with 32mm tyres, longboards and rack. It's pretty much the perfect commuter for me.
However, literally a few days after it arrived I smashed my shoulder to bits thanks to a pot hole related incident on one of my track bikes.
6 months later physically I'm fine but mentally I now have an irrational fear of potholes and subsequently an unremitting desire for fat touring tires but with full guards.
I'm lost in a see of Awols, Disc truckers, Fargos and Vayas. tripster Atr probably a stretch too far money wise.
Ideally I would want single speed, clearance for 42mm or even 50mm WITH full guards and drops. But I appreciate I'm probably going to have to compromise, or sell my current bikes and go custom.
Does anyone have any recommendations or advice?
Was even thinking of building a drop bar karate monkey. Hoping to pop down to Brixton cycles this weekend for some inspiration

Had a car pull right out in front of me on Kennington Road this morning.
Was close enough to have me screaming.
She had the decency to stop and sincerely apologise afterwards and we went on out merry ways.
If I hadn't been primary I would have been in big trouble.
10/10 #very lucky

Sorry to hear this. I'm at the other end of the tunnel and was discharged from physio on Wednesday. She has done all she can and the rest is down to me doing my exercises diligently. Reckon I'm 80% better in terms of pain and strength, 90% range of movement.
All in all I was off the bike for nearly 5 months, with the waistline to prove it!
Almost forgotten about it now when I'm riding but wouldn't want to go through it again, slippy patch on Tuesday morning scared the bejesus out of me.
I hope your recovery goes well

How are you finding the stack with the new stem?
I couldn't get on with the stock set up, albeit on a relatively short test ride.
Still fancy getting one though !
