I think I’m being paged because of my MG5 which is a great car, very happy with it and we’ve managed it with 3 kids, which requires a bit of creativity to fit the right car seats, but possible (all in isofix).
We had space for all 5 of us plus camping kit for 2 weeks, and it was tight, but possible. The newer models have roof bars and bigger battery than ours but we’ve only rarely had issues with range… hope that’s an informative recommendation @inchpincher? -

I'm looking for a raincover that will fit a bakfiets long - am I best off taking my chances on the customs, inevitable delays, etc ordering from Europe (is this Kidscab one legit?or is there somewhere in the UK to get reasonably? They are £442 from London Green Cycles, which seems a bit excessive!
Would be very happy for a used one, but they don't seem to come up on ebay... or a DIY job if it actually fits and is waterproof... -

forgot about that thread! everyone needs a crankset to dispense their toilet roll right? ;P
I was thinking more on the practical angle though... maybe I am once again extending myself beyond my engineering knowledge!!@Rodolfo - still here, still cycling, but mostly just functional with 3 little ones... and I still have the GT EDGE Aero (3 house moves later!) waiting for the end of it's paint job... someday we'll all have that satisfaction!

Is there a thread/sub-forum for building non-bike things with bike parts?
I have done a few projects using bits from my spare parts bins, and I'm curious about what others have done. I have always felt like used bike bearings (from headsets, BBs, even wheels) are pretty good value large diameter bearings with decent tolerances for building simple machines. I'd love to see any inspiration for things like:- wood lathe (maybe even treadle or pedal powered?)
- etching press
- drum sander
- bandsaw
- Fruit crusher
I'm sure there are other projects/hacks that would be interesting too, just a few that came to mind!

Anyone here done similar, but primarily using bike bits for all the mechanical parts? I was just poking around for half-term activities for the kids and saw some examples (OSB layered on top of a bike wheel
- but drive mechanism is just a stick?), but none that were well developed... -
Crazy cargo-bike van (I'd probably make it a campervan if I got it ;P) on FB Marketplace
Probably just a terrible old-school bafang motor on it, but for 450, you could do worse -
Just spent the summer in Andalucia with the family while our house got a renovation, and would have loved to have access to a bike (though was too hot to ride most of the time!) - we should have a database of bolt-holes where people have bikes stashed potentially available for borrowing ;P
I have a couple friends in Barcelona, but nothing in Madrid, sorry! -
@Pathracer looks nice - did the mandarina bavaria come through well? I thought the aroma on it was really nice - sounds like it might have been overpowered by the grapefruit zest? I always find it tricky to dial in citrus flavours and aroma well...
I've recently done a slightly citrussy Berliner Weisse short and shoddy brew, and a Munich Dunkel collab with a friend. Looking to do something with stone fruit vibes, but not sure whether to go darker or lighter - I was thinking more light, sour cherry, kirsch flavour rather than rich, black forest gateau... I saw Elusive Brewing's Cherry Wheat - that's you @ketsbaia, right? Anyone else done anything like this? Any tips?

I stupidly tried to grind some grains for flour in my iberital and they got jammed so I had to open the whole thing up... I'm pretty sure the burrs need sharpening or replacing, so I thought I should do that while it's open - any tips on reliable sources for replacement conical burrs? I'm seeing this for £32 but some for less than half the price on ebay...

thought I had checked out several times on the superstar components wheels sale over the last few weeks, and realised today I'd failed to actually get any, so I finally ordered the only wheels in 700c I could see left which was the WTB i23 V3 Wheelset. It was 199 in my basket as I checked out, then bumped to 219 before I could pay - obviously the difference is only a fiver with the 75% discount, so I can't complain, but it was a bit of a surprise!

my thermometer (govee home something or other) is inaccurate by at least 20 degrees and beyond the "calibration" range - anyone have a recommendation for a new one? I have gone through 2 ikea ones previously, which I wasn't happy with, and I don't want to pay loads, but want to have range for boiling, not just mashing...

They both look nice actually! Looks like Omnium isn't shipping to the UK, and they're a bit more spenny...
I will keep an eye for one of those brother forks - watching something similar on ebay, but it has a tapered steerer so will have to go for another frame...@yoshy that velo orange piolet is very nice!

Just pressed about 30-35L of juice from apples (and pears) this past weekend, and have started fermenting it, but I was recommended to transfer it to some glass demijohns/carboys for a secondary ferment before bottling. I don't do secondary with beer, and if I did, it would just be in another fermenting bucket, but in this case I am thinking because of the higher acidity of cider, maybe a glass container is better? any experience on cider here? I saw @Pathracer did some last year, right?
Thanks - I guess I really should have checked the Halfords site more thoroughly first then!
