My current project
Early-80s Olmo, unsure on the model though? if anyone can help? Maybe Super Gentleman?
Taking my time sourcing the panto parts (wrong crankset at the moment...), it will be garish. Got a pair of Mavic MA2 on Record hubs with ATOM 6-speed freewheel too. Any idea on the Tubs I should look for?? -

True. Touch up on Alu is a mare cos of the priming that needs to be done first to prep the metal etc. And yeah that paint finish, don't think matching it would really happen haha!
The picture above makes it look better somehow? I'm inclined to think its the geometry, those forks look fine too me as does the paint etc. Could be they were just trying to shorten the wheelbase in a very obscure way or add a bit of French fancy... -
The more I look at both of them, the more I notice the bend on both.
I mean the problem with Alu is of course once its bent, you can't bend it back. It's not as kind as steel, once you do that all the strength is gone and it's a time bomb.
Though for it to bend that much you'd expect some level of crack/creaking/paint issues no? And some sort of bending to the forks? Which seem ok from what I can see?
And lets face it, this generation of Alu frames were doing all sorts of weird shit geometry wise?
Dunno man... I just dunno anymore...existential crisis -
My thoughts too, not a simple touch up job on an Alu frame if it were the same one.
From experience you might expect to see some flaky paint if the Alu had bent? (which in turn raises concern about the TT/HT on the post I linked you anyway)
Has it already been posted? Might be worth asking him to knock the stem out, see if it all comes out cleanly / if not grab a refund
I'm holding out hope for you, I have a similar era Alu De Rosa and the geometry on that is somewhat questionable though deliberate -

Don't know if it's the same bike, but this previous listing seems to have the same geometry by the HT?
Can't really be 100% cos of the photos... -
Raleigh Record Sprint, Reynolds 501
Size (c-t): 60cm
I bought this bike a few years ago as my first rebuild project/ learning project.
When I found it was in a pretty dire condition. Has been completely rebuilt having been stripped back to bare steel. Frame is in great nick. No cracks or rust, one dent in top tube but this isn't causing a problem.
Black & Gold. Gets some looks
Repainted with replica decals (correct for this edition of the Record Sprint).
Original Weinmann 500 gold anodised brakes and levers. New brake blocks, cables and housing.
Original headset, seat post, stem, gold handlebars (new cinelli cork bar tape) and Raleigh seat.
The frame was cold set to take the Rolf Vector Pro rear wheel with 10-speed Shimano Ultegra 6600 mini-groupset (front/rear mechs, cassette). Has KMC Gold 10-speed chain. Uses friction shifters - I like this setup - shifting is super swift and smooth but may take some getting used too!
Original Sugino chainset (chain rings may need replacing in time)
Bottom bracket threading was stripped when I found it so now has threadless BB. Works perfectly and rides like a dream (very impressed by this, uses a vacuum system!?)
Barely used gold and black Vittoria Rubino 700c front and back tyresI guess could be broken down for parts, but it rides lovely so I'm keen to keep it together for someone else to enjoy it.
Asking £200
Can pick up from Peckham, Shoreditch or City -
I've bought from Italy a couple of times, sent payment through Paypal as a purchase so they protect you in case the items faulty/damaged/never turns up. If the items been misrepresented etc you can open a case through Paypal and they're very good in terms of fighting for the customer.
Also, I use UPS to ship it. Costs £20 from Italy inc insurance so France should be similar (if not cheaper due to Italys notorious postal service) -

HA! Never noticed the category it was in! It popped up in one of my saved searches.
Won't lie, about 10 minutes after I posted on here I panicked and bought it...
Bit trigger happy
