thanks everyone, very helpful tips. Toe straps, daycent cage, white tape, Concor saddle & stem will be the first things on the list. I ain't buildin' it for porn but just feel they're is something missing ya know? It's def a Nuovo Mexico from 1983 btw. I think downtube shifters and nice hoods will make a big difference, not mad on the ergo shifters tbh.

it wouldn't be a flexibility issue as im down really low as it is. The bars don't go any lower, I tried lowering them but Nada, there at there limit that's why I was wondering if a shorter stem would be accceptable. I kinda need'em to come back Horizontally(30mm) and and down a bit vertically (15mm). I was actually thinkin about getting the angle grinder out and cutting 10-20mm off the stem's bottom but I think it's smarter to just get a new stem.

Well Lads, that's my beast there, only got her very recently. After realising the TT is too long :(
Just wondering would a smaller stem and compact bars be an acceptable option, stem is currently 110mm. I be needin around i'd say a 50-60mm taken from that.
and do compact bars and modern/short stem look daycent on old frames?
