Saddle arrived form Mr HilaryStone. Was a tad concerned as I had seemed to just pay money into his account without any recognition from his end, alas it is here now.

Dunno if this is what Scilly is saying but the links would all be over a greater radius of curvature so wouldn't need to be turned through as much of an angle on a bigger ring, and since theres a frictional couple in between the links and pins, surly energy would be lost in turning the links through the greater angels.

edit #1: but then the chain is moving faster so more links are being turned through the angle...
