Cheers @edscoble it was a very cheap new set which quickly sold on the bay. Probably was the same silver set @andy_k
Might still hold out for a custom build though. Dynamo lighting for this winter coming I think... -
How do you find the Halo for reliability/longevity @edscoble ? Nearly bid on a set for the daily bike not long back, but thought it better to hold out for a set of Hope Pro 2 or perhaps a custom build on old Japanese XT 6 bolt hubs if I could find any...

Clement on the ball too... Strada USH on the way by the looks...

Good spot @amey might consider those for the daily bike...

Cheers for the heads up @edscoble have you had a play with the Klamper yet? Any justification on the premium over a BB7 considering it's a similar set up with one of the pads sat static.
@tyeness gutting news. Hoping you have some insurance cover to get what you are owed. Although most importantly wishing a full and swift recovery!

@TheShipwright my bad - just saw the rim brake compatible... you may struggle... check A Cycles for the Grand Bois options...
-
Thanks! It's a custom, made by me... ha ha... no build thread. Although I might do a retrospective one. Plenty of shots on my Instagram @outhousepics
Much appreciated @tyeness it's not amazing, but not bad for a first build. Learnt a lot for the second incarnation...
@TheShipwright Stans rims too, WTB KOM i25... loads of mtb 27.5 rims to go at.

A couple of hundred miles in on the home build now, can't see me going back to anything narrower than 30+mm for the road now. I've been a little precious taking it off the beaten track yet, but hopefully a dry few months will see that changed to some smooth miles down as many tracks I can piece together.

Bit gutted I didn't give a bit more clearance in my frame to take a ~50mm tyre like that one @edscoble - saw it pop up on Instagram the other day.
Although saying that 42mm are running well!

@jontea Dave Yates course for lugless ;-)
Top bloke and a great week in the workshop with almost daily air displays from the RAF...

Looking good.
A bit shocked that you were able to melt the lug though - how close by was the tutor when that happened? It must have had some fair heat in the flame to let that happen...
Should easily be fixed with a bit more brass or silver and some clean up with the files though.I've had similar issues with getting flow at the seat lug (exact same LongShen as yours) and I have wondered if it's also a bit down to tight tolerance too... I prefer using slightly smaller flames than normal like you.
I'm going to drill a couple of holes in the next one I use - or use a different seat lug. As you say it's a fair chunk of metal by the binder bolt.Any progress on the back end?

Sound! I did eyeball the fluted ones before I went snakeskin on mine.
I do like Berthouds too, but since fitting the VO on the 650b, but much prefer the VO fitting hardware to the GB.
Honjos would be nice, but I do struggle to justify the $$$
