@Hulsroy I’ve got my eye on a 2000 model with 111,000 miles on it if that gives you any indication as to my success ;)
-
@pascalo looking good! I do have the OG bike, or more specifically my partner does. She uses it as a commuter.
On that note, I’m coming back to England for the full summer and already bringing a mountain bike, so if anyone has a lead on a good wolverine style bike in a large ish size, please hit me up! Likewise for a car (looking at old V70’s currently) x

@pascalo - Ah you absolutely should get down here, it's off its fucking tits. There are heaps of green trails at Derby and Maydena now, so there's really no need to be an experienced rider.

Hello everyone! I’d love to say this is a bikepacking write up, but it’s a bit different and I thought you’d enjoy it regardless.
I started writing about bikes properly for this forum, and specifically this thread and it’s thanks to the great bastards that were kind about it that I’ve ended up doing some steady work in doing more of it. I’m not swearing nearly enough, and I guess it’s not quite exactly the same style as before, but it might be half fucking interesting!

New Aussie National Champs Downhill course was finished a few weeks ago - here's a video of the trailbuilders riding it for your viewing pleasure!
Rode it yesterday on a trail bike and scared myself shitless.

Interesting - seems like most people are running Rimpact then. I wonder what the difference between the two is in terms of density of the foam used - the Cush Cores seem like they might be slightly harder, but I'm sure they both do a very similar job.
It might've been the tyre change coupled with fiddling with my coil shock, but putting inserts in and being able to run pressures around 20psi (I'm about 70kgs on a good day) made the bike ride like a magic carpet. Not sure I'd ever put inserts in the front, even riding at Maydena, but for the money it's a no brainer on the rear.
FWIW I didn't have much of a problem installing Cush on my bike with a brand new Aggressor, then it took me only 25 minutes or so on a friend's bike the day after. I'm mandating that all friends treat themselves to a rear insert (oo err).

Glad we're on the same page for the collar, we deicided it'd be best to skim it back a bit, but for now got an outsized one over it, essentially just so I can ride it. Next issue was a slightly misaligned brake tab on the fork which meant sanding back a bit of the metal (it's plenty thick). First bikes eh?

@nogk powder coat is great - as I found though, it can add a fair bit of mass to the frame. Seatpost collars are a particular barrel of laughs...
@vp1337 It looks it in hand, but not at all out of place on as you'll see shortly

Looks banging. Soooo long. Where ya gonna ride a bike like this? (Angling for riding spots)
