wow i vaguely glanced over this thread and was overwhelmed by the amount of chatter!
surely it makes sense to wear a helmet to not get brain damage or whatever happens when a car hits you at a high enough speed.
ok now that I've put my oar in i will never post in this thread again and also will be riding my bike... instead of talking a lot about helmets and HSE stuff....P.S. safety is easy... use you common sense... and if you aint got any.... your're screwed and probably shouldn't ride a bike in the vicinity of cars, lampposts, ramps... or anything that you might hit, or fall off of, or get hit by

restrap are tried and tested as awesome.
ive used them everyday on multiple bikes for 3 years.
theyre amazing.
been riding the same pair for a year and a half.So then after a year and a half, are they still relatively stiff or are they pants and droop, making it a struggle to get back into quickly when setting off the lights... (If you stop for the lights)
I really like the look of the bigxtop ones but if no one says anything about there durability and ability to keep shape I would rather the more functional pair...

so what im getting from this thread is
restrap vs Ynot vs bigxtop...
zantrak are gross. (my opinion, not taken from the tread)
so which is better?
in terms of strength?
and rgidity? (I freaking hate when my straps go all droopy)i like the look of the bigxtops because of the metal clasp on the ouside of strap but is it just in the way?

Haha love this forum already!
Harry seemed like a nice enough guy when I met him... Oh well. What ever will be, will be.
Could anyone recommend a decent a good work stand?
I've seen a few of them like the park tool ones but I don't know if they are sturdy... Has anyone got one of recommend a better one?Would like to be able to fold it away when not in use.

how many times is this now??
the worst part for me is he doesnt even give a forum nod at a discount.
if he said 100 to any of you, but i have it on gumtree at £150 to the general public it wouldnt be half as badwe should call him at all hours IDIOT on 07587158692
You know when you get that 'hmmm I wonder...' Feeling. I checked and I have that guys number! I bought my bike from him.... Haven't seen anything else from him around but If it was like the bike I got.... Well don't.
I took that piece of crap to bits and rebuilt it 5 times until I gave in and checked it out with a mechanic. Turns out chain stay was 3mm out on one side, bottom bracket was bent to a ridiculous angle and was completely rusted inside and held with plastic cups. rear sprocket bent. And a dodgy looking weld fix on the top tube. In short I will never buy anything in the dark again!
P.s. I fixed it up and got it running smooth now... And it was a good learning exp. -
Just been to popup bikes yesterday. Guy seems to know a bit about the fixed scene in Manchester which is more than I can say for most bike shops in manch but there you go.
Anyway the owner (Dipak I think he's called) is way friendly and keen to talk about anything. The place is cool but does smell a bit like damp when you walk in... Just because of the location and stuff. But it's great. I will go there again just to hang out and if I bump into other fixie riders great! But unfortunately the coffee ain't as good as ntp (north tea power) but then their standard is pretty high.I am really excited that there's a lot of chatter about this subject! I myself and a finatic about coffee and actually want to open my own coffee shop running coffee like ntp but also with a lot for cyclists and repairs... But this may not happen soon :/ need to get a business plan together etc first.

Hullo.
I'm Liam. Been on the forums a few times for info etc but still newish to fixed gear. Been riding a few months.
I live near Ardwick/ Levensume area. In town a lot and Oxford road on my bike. Bit of a beater but it's black frame with create forks wraped in white vinyl wrap with random drawing on it. Drop bars wraped in black wraps. Say hi if you see me. It's so rare to find other riders!
To be fair my bike was next to it so they probably thought the same about my wheels...
