Their website didn't write itself (even if it sometimes seems that way). Giving gear to sponsored riders isn't free. Sending review samples to journalists isn't free.
yeah, all right, keep your pants on!
all that stuff you mention is real basic shit, I would have thought they would go beyond that.
The site is really rather basic, and in fact if they were my client, I'd have a set of recommendations as long as my arm.

True except shipping adds nothing to final product cost. You can't charge customers more because of your factory location choice
well... you can and people do. all the time.
the costs of production in the far east outweigh the cost of delivery, that's the whole point of shifting (excuse the pun) production to the far east, or am I out of date again? :P

Maybe not quite that cheap, and it depends where in the chain you measure the price. In order to retail at £100 here they probably need to be under £20 packed and ready to ship at the factory door. That would mean an unpainted frame being £10 as it leaves the jig.
bloody four letter word!
Do they really need to be making that kind of margin to be profitable? Seems nuts to me! To go from £20 to £100... I thought the rule of thumb in for the average retail item was generally "take all costs of production and labour and then double it to get sale price" -
I liked the old Pomp stays too, but look at the tyre clearance on the new one! It looks huge! Let's just hope they've also redesigned the horrible, tyre-size-limiting, fork
Apart from the one pic I saw in this thread, where are other pictures of the new pompino? I don't see anything about the new pomp on the on-one website...

it was up for 5 months you must be pretty slow ;) haha i made a pretty quick decision to completely change my bike, Phil721 came round to have a look and told me it was "way too sensible" earlier :(
you're probably imagining things + camera angle, have the pomps ever been 135mm?
if youre still on the look for one im sure i saw some on ebay when i was initially toying with the idea of getting one!
Well I only found out about the white frame in the sales threads from your posts on this thread :)
Yes - there are some on ebay from planet X, I think...
On one are out of the large frames... but tbh I'm not sure which size I should go for, I am about 176-178 cm tall, and the inside leg measures about 81cm...
Yes - I'm pretty sure that I saw a thread somewhere that stated that the pompinos have had 135mm in the past and on-one seems to have settled on 120mm as of late

here you go vlad all the info we seem to have got i'm afraid.
looks good but personally i much prefer the current wishbone makes it a little different! Thanks for your post, mate.
Interesting!
I prefer the current one as well (now that I see that)
What have you managed to do so far with your white pompino frame?I was tempted to go for the same one, I live just by New Cross as well. Not quick enough though! :)

think someone mentioned earlier (on this thread i think) that they emailed in and somone from customer services said late december, but i imagine that will be the new model that is featured in this thread a few pages back without the funky wishbone shapes!
oh I missed that completely!!! does someone have a link/info on the new model?

Depends on what chainring and cog you go for.
well that's the whole point isn't it? Decide on a width and buy all components in that width. I have no existing chainrings/sprockets to work with, so I can choose one or the other at this stage - unless I am missing something...?
I was under the impression that all chainrings/sprockets were available in both 3/32 and 1/8 - Is this not the case?

Yeah was considering that, or maybe buying a stem with more of an angle and then slamming it.
There is a link to my pedalroom page in Names and Faces to bikes for anyone who wants to see a parts list.
Thanks. But I'm new to the site and not sure how to get there. I tried looking at your profile, but no luck.
Any chance of a link?
Cheers

Holy motherflipper, THAT would be the bike of my dreams right now!
Loving the guards and the rack - just what I need for my commute.
Nice one!
Just added mudguard and rack on my dad's Pompino.
48/18 gearing a touch high but usable (48/19 on fixed);
Been riding it around lately (needed to go into work to fit the mudguard), was pretty fun and relaxing to ride with a freewheel, I now know how Josh feel.
what is the email address that they send their daily email from please? I signed up for their newsletter, but havent received anything yet, perhaps my junk mail is catching the emails?
Cheers
