Noobish question. I'm going to convert my 70's road bike to SS. Since it has cottered cranks I've bought another used cotter-less crankset on ebay. Chainrings are bolted by 5 bolts I assumed it's comes from a road bike. I haven't noticed third chainring then (blurry Ebay picture and not enough attention). Now I started to doubt if triple crankset was a good purchase. I know I should have done my research earlier...
It's a Exage 300LX crankset just like the one in picture bellow.

Is such crankset usable for SS conversion?

No a bad tip. But it's getting cold where I am. About 0 ℃ atm :) Might try if it gets a bit warmer in weekend which is unlikely.

I'm a noob who plans convert his 70's road bike to a SS. Wonder if this kit will be useful to me. Or maybe it is an overkill for such a small job?.. Already some home/car tools and a IceToolz 16 multi-tool.
I own no other bikes at the moment.

Going to convert 70's road bike to SS and wonder if 42/16 is a good ratio for 3-4 mile commutes on mostly (but not totally) flat area.
