I have some old phonak earbuds that were recommended by an ear-nerd - they are sold as audeo now. Sealed up like earplugs; I can hear blood rushing in my ears(!). Phonak make hearing aids originally I think- can swap/mod filter to alter the acoustics. 3 years of seldom bouts of commute/travel use they're glued and going strong. squishy foam tips.

Just ride it and monitor it and call it a beater. If you are scared of hurting yourself... dont I guess.
Are you really heavy / bumpy rider?
If it cracks i predict the rear wheel will start rubbing / stop.
Put a known good wheel in and check the frame is straight. Also, i've read that if a dent is less than a quarter of the tubes circumference and has no sharp edges / creases and the tube is straight you are generally 'OK'. YMMV.
have fun!

i'm using the yellow thin ones in sidis; upgraded with an extra arch lift underneath from giro aegis supernatural insoles. i have collapsing feet, and the feel helps remind me to press my toes flat and lift my arch.
They are useful for me and cheap enough. got custom black ones waiting for my next shoe purchse. -

Was with 4-5 peeps and decided to skip the Enfields - rented an old yamaha 2 stroke think it was a 350 in Leh, ladakh years ago. They were on twist-and-go's that could barely make it around up the hills, but easy.
Once we were out and about It was amazing. About 30 mins in I was feeling great, full of life, had a girl on the back and then slid out doing about 6 mph on a dusty road. Snapped a lever and bent the rear brake too.. No injuries except my pride.
Luckily, the Indian Army had a few guy passing who saw, and they had some pliers on them which I used with my first aid kit tape to help me bodge the broken brake onto the clutch, and I rigged the clutch to work when I grabbed the bare cable. It was fine for the next couple of hundred miles and monasteries we went to, though the clutch slipped if I turned the bars too much. The girl decided she was safer on the back of a scooter for the rest of the day. :D
My first and hopefully last motorcycle crash.
