Thanks for the response, I've now managed to switch the brake lever using the method you describe and using a bit more force than before.
I had imagined that it might be possible to knock out the pivot pin for the shifter in a similar way, though this may well be impossible due to manufacture (it looks a bit like a snap rivet style end). I don't really see why the whole shifter body would need to be disassembled but trust that it's probably not worth attempting at the moment.
I think I'll install the new ergo as is and put up with it looking like Veloce for the meanwhile, and if I do find out how to swap the shifter, I can always do that at a later date.

Does anyone have any experience removing and/or installing the brake and downshift (RH) lever blades on 3rd generation Campagnolo ergo levers?
I have bought a new shifter body (EC-RE100 R/H ) as my RH Athena 11sp shifter stopped working properly- dropping right into the smallest sprocket every time the thumb lever was pressed. Apparently ultrashift doesn't suffer from the same problem, and didn't cost much more so I've gone for it. Now I need to swap the ally brake lever over and also preferably (though not absolutely essential) the ally shift lever.
This video makes removing the brake lever look very easy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-lLOezZJr0
I've not had much luck so far but I think that more force (and a better way of applying it) is needed. Any tips/experience of removing the shift lever would be appreciated.tl;dr : Anyone got any tips for swapping levers from old shifter to new?
Cheers

I've lost my Rapha virginity buying the Hooded Wind Jacket in the sale. This was partly prompted by my employment with a Team Sky sponsor, which means 25% off for me, coming to an end.
I love the jacket,it feels like a really good quality product. You can wear it over a T-shirt on warm days and it still feels really cool and light, but it also takes the wind chill off later in the evening. Regarding the somewhat controversial hood, I'm pleased it's there: I'll mainly be using this jacket to cycle somewhere, lock up my bike and walk around- so if it rains I don't want to be the idiot in the hood-less jacket with rain running down my face.
This said, the hood retention is shit (unless I'm missing something)- the buttoned strap which goes over the rolled hood does nothing to stop the whole hood sliding out one side and becoming awkwardly half unrolled down the top of your back. Therefore I just leave the hood unravelled.
I was originally planning on buying the navy but my hesitation got in the way and I was forced to go for orange in medium which was a bit of a blessing in disguise- I really like it, especially with matching rapha socks- also good value in sale. I'm a limb-sy 6'2" at about 70kg- the medium fits well, a tiny bit short at the front but that makes it better on the bike.
TL;DR Great jacket, shit hood strap.

@Borek I've been stuck in the midlands all summer with flat commuting being the majority of my riding- can't wait to get back to the Bristol Hills. Excited about the new surface on Belmont, it's a favourite of mine too- kinda recollect seeing signs up about the resurfacing, descending should be a bit nicer too.
I'll definitely come down to Burrington and hopefully some of the other WTTA ones- I don't hold out a lot of hope for my legs getting me up them with any speed though.
-
@danb Good luck for it, I plan on coming down for that one. Not sure I'll be climbing with any speed after a lazy summer in the flat midlands though.
-
@Borek Looks like it works from tonight's results! Chapeau, I hope you'll be joining us up Belmont for the UoBCC HC.
Michael ( I bumped into you at our 10' and your RR in the spring)

There seems to be a vast difference between the bizarre way in which JTL has been conducting himself recently and how he was before. He always came across as one of the most intelligent and thoughtful bike riders, both in interviews and when I was fortunate enough to go on a ride with him during the winter he moved to Sky. I guess loosing a bit of sanity is understandable when you're livelihood is taken away in such a publicly humiliating way...

I've just picked up a Super Galaxy Tandem as a direct result of linking this thread to my girlfriend a month ago- yours is a truly inspirational bike. Here it is:
Anyway, I don't want to hijack so I'll keep it for my own CP thread one day, thanks for the inspiration and I hope you're enjoying your trip. My mum seems to approve:

Just got round to taking a photo of my CF SLX that I built up over the winter. I picked up the frame last September and finished it around Febuary, biding my time for the parts to come up within my student budget; all up came to about £1200.
Shame the garmin mount and un-cut steerer ruin the front end a bit.

Great looking project.
I'm also curious about your sand ( or shot?) blasting. I've got my eye on an alu frame which I plan on stripping, and as I've read about others just using paint stripper , I was just going to do that.
My friend has a sand blaster which I could use though, if you think it gives better results?

I had to remove my PT crankset in order to swap it for a bargain compact UT one I got off the 'Bay. I'd read about people just using standard aftermarket gear pullers and also one or two mention that you can just use a coin instead of the Campag plug.
Turns out it works... it came off a treat with a one pound coin, no need to buy a single tool (though I am lucky in having a girlfriend whose Dad has a massive garage full of car tools for his TVRs). And best of all I'm now free of Power Torque, though I did completely deface the queens head which is treason or something right?

Hi, very late to the party here but just wanted to compliment your build, very nice paint job for a reasonable price as well. The black and red groupset really works with that frame and especially the stem too, I hope you're still enjoying it.
I too have a Colnago Super with modern Campag (Athena 11), though someone else did all the hard work and I picked it up pretty much as is, uninspiring photo:
Cheers @drøn , I found this video which shows pretty much exactly what I have to do:

I've stripped my broken shifter to get the aluminium 'finger lever' now, but I don't quite have the confidence in my skills to completely disassemble (and correctly reassemble) the new one which I've just paid £65 for.
