I have a US -> EU shipping question here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread117326.html
But since this thread is very popular, I am spamming here too, in the hope I might get some answers... Thanks

Hello,
A frameset is waiting to be shipped to me, from New York to Croatia. The cheapest we found so far is $320 by a shipping discounter that would be using FedEx anyway.
US post office too expensive, UPS too expensive, FedEx too expensive.
The box is 38"x25"x8", 14 pounds.
Any other options? Or should I swallow $320? :/

I take it you already know your bike fit so you get the sizes of everything right first time? Would suck to build such a nice bike and it not feel right..
Well, I'm 190 cm with 34" inseam, everybody suggested size 58/59 for me. I mailed FBM guys and they said 56 Sword should be perfectly fine.
Believe me, what I'm (not) driving now (my brothers old Merida MB, too small for me, with Maxxis ultra wide tires, it's impossible!), this should be a god-send. Trouble is, I'm in small town in Croatia, and we have no choice here. Only the most common brands with their MB lines.
With seatpost/saddle, headset/spacers and bar adjustments, this Sword should be more than fine for me. I certainly hope so, that is.

and get a nitto seatpost for the finishing kit unless you've really got your heart set on the paul components one
Nitto S65 was in fact the first choice. But then I saw Pauls :) Might not be a difference anyway, as the seatpost head is basically not visible. But Paul do have a small setback, which might come in handy for more flexibility.

We're not vicariously financially ruining him are we
Well, if you read this thread top to bottom, you can see I have a hard time landing on something cheap.
I am very afraid to draw a line after the list and calculate the total. And that's even without the shipping/customs. I don't even want to know, I will be buying a few parts each month, until I'm done (hoping by the summer I will have this built). The frameset should be here by the end of next month.
But it will be one tough mfcker and I should be satisfied from the start. If I went with something cheap or a compromise it would bug me all the time and I would always look for something to change.

Selle Italia Turbo 1980 Saddle looks good, I could roll with that, no problem!
What would I do without this forum?! Thanks to all, you've been an enormous help!

OK, decided on Sugino cranks & Tange LN-7922 BB (I like the fit and forget). Thanks so much Chak and sirbikealotdonor! These two was the hardest for me...
This now leaves me with only a wheelset to sort out. Well, just the spokes/nibs, as I've decided on Archetype.
And figure out the stem/bullhorn combo. Might go with Fyxation pursuit and stem.
Edit: Tange LN-7922 BB

Brooks would look shit as in bad/nasty/horrible/out of place/rubbish.
Needs a stripped slr or something else modernish.Ugh. Too each its own. I think black Brooks will fit in perfectly, especially after a bit of time/wear. It never goes out of style, unlike those 'modern' saddles. Plus I like leather.
So, Sugino 75 def looks like a most sensible choice. For BBs it's not so clear, looks like everybody says differently. What about Hatta R9400?
And those are all NJS, I think I have a bit less choice with NJS and this frame? Afraid to get something which will not fit... Was originally planning to go with ISO sets. I am a bit lost regarding those finer points :)

Why ThickSlick tyres and not something decent like Gatorskin Hardshells or Maxxis Refuse?
Wow, Maxxis Re-Fuse looks great! Editing the post... Thanks for the rec.
Also, by another recommedation, I think I'll go with Cane Creek Forthy Headset, thanks @Regal!

Check out Cane Creek for nice black headsets though. The Forty is great but even the cheap Ten is a really good headset.
Thanks you, good sir, Cane Creek looks nice. Just need to figure out which one fits the http://fbmbike.co/the-sword/

I am kinda dead set on a FBM Sword frameset. It is already paid for, I just need to find a bit cheaper shipping option...
