I don't have any frame building experience but I think it would be a ballache to do it yourself. You would need to borrow a jig as well as the brazing gear to make sure everything is aligned correctly.
It seems a shame to rebuild half of a 50 year old frame to fit new parts if it isn't damaged. It might be cheaper overall to invest in a more modern frame. Depends how attached to the frame you are!

Porn! Such function!
Are these rare/money, or are they fairly common, I know someone who would love one of those. My grandad has a free/fixed hub, not 2 speeds on the free though. Allegedly it is buried deep in his garage ssomewhere. Its not a BSA one though.
Always wanted to give it a try if it turned up.
Edit: I recall him saying it worked by a series of pins locking the sprocket in place... And that they had a habit of shearing off when riding fixed.

All the transfers for the various Holdsworth models are available from http://www.hlloydcycles.com ...I got the correct transfers for a 1954 Holdsworth from nick over there.
Really hoping someone makes a good project of this. Sadly it can't be me due to lack of space.

I'm heading to Islay and Jura over Easter, taking in the views and the whisky. Hopefully I can stash the bike somewhere and walk the paps of Jura while I'm there.
Do you have a plan for lewis and harris? I was puzzling over this last month - They're quite linear so look difficult to do without backtracking. I always wondered what the route between ports was like on the mainland to make it a loop.

This thread brings back terrible memories of Yodel.
Last time I used them there was no parcel or card. Customer services said it had been left with some name I'd never heard of! Not even a neighbour. A few days later someone down the road dropped it off.
Very unhelpful. They could give me the name but had no idea where they had delivered it to.

I want to try to mimic the lefol mudguards that I've seen on classic tandems. They were fitted to Jack Taylor bikes that i've seen: http://www.blackbirdsf.org/taylor/images/6063/6063_rear.jpg
I've ordered some velo orange guards since the lefol guards are difficult to find at all, let alone in the right size!
Cables ordered and headset refurbished now! Getting closer.

Merry Christmas!
I ran a tap through the bottom bracket shells to clear the threads of loads of grime. Made fitting the cartridge BBs to the old frame much, much easier. The headset was already fitted to the frame but has a bit of play and feels a bit gritty - planning to strip this down and re-fit it.
I got hold of some of the velo orange leather bar tape and did some boxing day sewing with a few beers. That's the rear bars done. Came out pretty good!
I've stripped down the headset that came on the frame and have done a bit of research and found this catalogue: http://postimg.org/image/2revl5yw4/
It looks like the top is a Stronglight V4 and the bottom a Stronglight P3. The seller seems to have just dipped into his parts box to find a headset prior to selling the frame. The V4 has a reputation for being robust and the P3 is pretty standard - Does anyone have any thoughts on mixing and matching headsets?
Hi,
Did this sell in the end? I'd be interested if it's still available.
