The frame / forks weren't too expensive so I'm not too concerned re geo (which I have to admit I don't know too much about).

It's more of a summer project but I don't want to break the bank.

Just bought a Dawes galaxy frame and forks from about 1988 and intend to build it up info a fixed gear bike.

The frame / forks have a bit if rust which I'm hopeful I can remove by getting the frame stripped and powder coated.

Any thoughts as to colour? I'm thinking either Orange (possibly with black forks) or white and blue.

Also as I've never built up a bike before any opinions as to how I can do it while keeping the costs from spiraling while balancing the need to make the build as straightforward as possible would be appreciated.

Lots more questions but I need to think through and read up before I ask.

Shame the ace isn't a bit bigger.

Also wondering if I'd be better off buying a frame and taking the time to build it up. Wouldn't fix the immediate need for something to get around London Town but might be interesting.

I'm hijacking my own post but any thoughts on how much it'd cost to start from nothing and build up based on a 531 frame? Wouldn't need exotic parts just serviceable.

Sorry I'm 6'2" 33" leg so I'm looking about a 59-60 I think. Never had a road bike before so don't really know.

That was my thought but do t know much about them.

Think I'll keep looking for something in 531 that doesn't cost the earth or need too much repair.

Looking at a single speed built around an Eddy Merckx TDF from the 70s.

I'm looking for something to get around London but don't know much about Eddy Merckx frames and had been looking for something with a Reynolds 531 frame.

Any thoughts on this type of frame appreciated.
