It was honestly pretty routine as I wasn’t looking to break any speed records! I ended up going to 24km.
Previous longest runs were a 15km, a 13km and a few 10kms, but most of the time while building up over the previous months I was sticking to 6/7kms. Only difference on the half is I had to eat beforehand and took some dates and raisins for a little munch on the hour mark!
Next time it would be good to do it as part of an actual event and I’m sure I’ll get under 2 hours (was just over 2 hours last week)

This was basically me in a nut shell and I just completed a half marathon distance run last weekend. Started in January, going about twice a week so a very similar timeline.
I'm sure others might have more specific advice but for me the most important thing was really focusing on keeping all those runs in the first few months at a steady pace. The easiest way for me to track that was with a wrist watch/hrm and keeping heart rate in zone 2.

I’m planning to tap out a steady half marathon at the weekend. Would it be possible to go before breakfast like my other runs to date, or am I flirting with a bonk?
If it’s more advisable to eat before would a quick snack and go work or would it have to be a big breakfast and wait a few hours ?
Previous max distance was 15km mostly zone 2 (6:00ish/km) and felt fine on completion.

Just wondering what dark arts are required to turn out good eggs in a stainless steel frying pan? (not non stick).
Having just bought a couple of brand new pans I've been enjoying using them except for my first attempt at an omelette which I used to be fairly proficient at in the old non stick pan these ones replaced.

This is so true. I think so many good podcasts burnout because the frequency of episodes is way too high. They are made by humans and there are only so many things people can say until they start repeating themselves and end up spiralling into a feedback loop. Add to this they all seem to share from the same pool of guests and the effect is multiplied across the whole space.

What’s the best way to get tested if we don’t have a mate like the one you mentioned?
