So, my friend is looking for his first road bike, but has a budget of £300.
I say that this is do-able, he just needs something a little older/less cool.
I guess I am looking for something post 2000, in good mechanical condition, and I guess we should stay away from DT shifters. Doesn't have to be overly fashionable, just functional and not (too) heavy I guess.
He is a tall guy, so I think we would need around a 61.
Anybody?

I did not even realise the affiliates thing existed. I have only been on here a year or so, and mainly stick to the classifieds. Maybe make the list a sticky in those forums to remind those with money burning a hole?
I will be using the links to purchase a bike in the next two weeks, and will also buy more beers as I think I'm due...

old Moser for 50 euro http://www.ebay.fr/itm/velo-de-course-annee-80-cadre-vitus-bien-equipe-francesco-moser-bon-etat-/291129766634?pt=FR_JG_Sports_Cyclisme_V%C3%A9los&hash=item43c8afb2ea
I just read the whole thing, struggling with my french and using translate to read it line by line.
There were about 12 lines and it took me about 15 minutes of debating meanings with my gf (I didn't want to use translate unless I had to)
The final line says he will not post
Excellent!

Not cool, but a GT mountain bike frame for less than 15 quid seems decent if you like that kind of thing:
