thank you! i love doing things like this, so i was happy to spend the time on it. poor quality picture, but here's a bit more:
i used one shot enamel in 'imitation gold' from paints4u.com (as recommended on here), a 00 brush from cass art, and a steady hand. i know from experience that i have a habit of holding my breath when i concentrate (my first year training as a barista i had to train myself to breathe properly while pouring coffee otherwise i'd just forget!) so i'm used to relaxing and keeping to small, fine movements on things like this.got a bit more to do, i'm really looking forward to it!

a slight update on my 1938 restoration project - http://www.lfgss.com/thread104095.html
also, my next bike is almost done, just hunting down bb. i'll also (when i have the money, ha) take it into armourtex and get it powder coated, excited! i should also put some effort into finding a decent saddle for it... i was planning on carrying on using the same san marco spid glamour saddle but, as ridable as it is, it's not fantastic, especially for longer rides. the search continues!

it's single speed, yes! that thread is dreamy.
this has rather been on the backburner for a couple of weeks while i work my bum off, but i applied the decals (trial and error... worked out alright, learnt a few lessons) - again, my phone is a constant source of chagrin but:
and i'm waiting to take it round to my housemate's shop to install the headset (my friend joe/heavisides 'on here' had a spare inch threaded headset he kindly donated to me) then i've got a brake to install, some more pinstriping, drivetrain. the bottom bracket was a bit of a nightmare but i've sorted it now. i lined the lugs:
and this is what the brake looks like at the moment, i got it off ebay and it turned up in a filthy rusted state so i took it apart and cleaned it!
as restorations go, this is pretty blasé. i could have put a lot more effort into sourcing precisely accurate components, but i was mostly interested in how difficult it would be to make it 1) serviceable/ridable again and 2) look fairly good. i'm happy with how it's going. the only thing i've not decided on is the chainguard - that hockey stick one you mentioned at the end of your post is ideal, though i've not seen one i like/think would work yet. i'll just see how that goes!

they're obscenely over-iced but pretty fun.

lulav and I were discussing hitting up Kosher Kingdom (Jewish supermarket in Brent Cross) next Thursday night as they're open late. We'd be tubing rather than cycling but if anyone would like to join us they have loads of vegan-friendly food that you can't find many other places in London, and much cheaper than the few places can CAN find it...
-
that sounds great! 12 works for me. xtomorx, lulav and I live opposite Burgess Park so we could meet and order pizza to ours and then trundle over the road? I would suggest meeting at Village Pizza bit it's tiny and there's no seating, and it saves us cycling with pizza boxes :) also Gregory I will pm you details when they're cemented!

Was one side of the new gasket beveled? Sometimes they are not profiled the same on each side.
+1 for this, make sure your tamping is level. if it's not, sometimes there's a pressure discrepancy/build up which results in the spray from the PF. along the same lines, it helps to make sure your tamped basket is free from any superfluous grounds (give it a blow/wipe/quick flick before you twist into the group head - everyone's got their own method but as long as it's free from excess and the tamping is level it doesn't matter how you do it, really). should eradicate that pesky spray. obviously if you're not in a rush backflush the group head using a blind filter basket to remove any old grounds too, before you put the shot on.

i'm in! 12th works for me.
incidentally, i think la luna has some vegan options - a friend and i have had vegetable pizza sans cheese (we were assured there was no dairy in the base) and the pasta (tomato and vegetable sauce) and the bruscetta. it's nice and authentic! so, you know, just in case we eat village pizza out of house and home, there's always la luna round the corner...! also a really nice thai place further up walworth road called mama thai. (it used to be the wimpy which is why the 'mama thai' sign looks suspiciously like the wimpy burger...)

I met MxM at Shangri La, him and Sparkes work in the same room. Both are sound with solid work and decent rates, would recommend both of them to any forumger. Best to call Shangri instead of faffing about with email, they have an assistant there that will help out with appointments but I think both the guys travel a lot.
cool. thanks for the advice!

hehe :) close though!
I would also definitely be up for a vegan food ride, or some kind of forum vegan pizza run.
that sounds AMAZING. however in lieu of what would probably essentially be a pizzeria crawl (maybe we can do this another time?) maybe we could start in camden, or islington, or even warwick avenue further back along the canal, and cycle along to Victoria Park and end up in Gallery Cafe? they do quite a few vegan options (it's all vegetarian) and as clockwork_killa mentioned the pizzas are really good. the staff are overworked and underpaid so the service can be a bit loose sometimes but it's a lovely place, and the food is generally great apart from the occasional blip.
when would be good for people? how are sundays?
this is just for you! <3
one of my favourites, horitomo:
also xtomorx just got back from the shop and apparently the cashiers refer to us (as a household) as "tattoo family"
